It's a slow day at the shop....
Didja ever make something you knew wasn't gonna work but for some reason just couldn't help yourself?
This gadget works slightly better than gravity, but if I crank in more than 5 in Hg then the can implodes. I've been laughing at this thing since I turned it on.

Pretty ingenious, are you an HVAC tech?

LOL, I don't know if ingenious and tech are applicable here :D but the answer is sorta. I sell computer room air conditioners and so we have all the stuff to work on 'em in the shop.
I do all of my own A/C stuff at the house too.
My gizmo sucked out all of the old oil in about 15 minutes. I need to find a stronger container so I can run more vacuum..... :D

Just find an empty freon container. 30lb should do it. Vent it good and drill and tap a drain valve into it. Then you should be able to use vacuum to fill it up and then use an aircompressor to blow it out the drain when finished.

Very creative :) Hook it to a 35 gallon drum with some bigger hoses and don't forget to remove your breathers or your collapse your valve covers :D

I used to use a Jabsco drill pump to do it until I figured out it was easier to use the PAR oil pump on my Mercruiser. It wasn't as hillbilly, but close.

Dr. Eagle:
I saw the vacuum pump and guages and had to ask. So like Liebert A/C units? Yes indeed, if you need a Liebert unit I'm your guy. I have bought several hundred units meant for cancelled telecom and data sites.
I figure that the market will eventually rebound.....

Yeah, that is all we used to use in our mobile switching centers when I worked for AT&T Wireless.
With the crash of the Data Warehouse business I am sure there was a big surplus of those things. It will pick up again, when I do not know...
I think we are starting to see some movement in telecom now, not much in broadband or data centers.
