Paid $125 for the car with clean title and striaght body. It has functional p.windows, door locks, tilt, cruise, auto, etc. I don't think I can complain.

RTJas :D Sounds like boat math to me. It seems that you should be able to find a motor at a wrecking yard for a Honda for under a grand.

You can get a rebuilt long block for cheap! Then you'll got another 200K miles out of that baby!

Ducky, no worries if you can pick up a Recycler in Cali' they have a lot of importers of good used motors from Japan. They are low mileage and go for about $300. Will try to get you some Ph#s. The Mag comes out every Thurs. :D

I did the same deal, bought my room mates car for $20 years ago with a busted block. I put a used jap motor in it for something like $500-$600. The engine was great but the install job sucked and the carb gave me nothing but problems (84 I think). Your should be EFI so it may be better. Anyways watch out if you are paying for installation as well.

Thanks guys, some phone numbers would be great. I found a motor in phoenix, I just wanted to check out some others. My motor is carbureted, though. '87 was the last year of them. And I think RTJ's math is boat math. I'm sure I can get a wrecking yard motor for under $500, just gotta find one. I will install it myself, I just need a motor.

There's a Honda/Acura wrecking yard in San Ysidro, ca. called the Honda club. While I don't know how much they'd charge for a motor, I've bought insurance replacement parts there pretty cheap. I have the number at work, I can post it tomorrow.

You could also go with a transplant motor and put a 1.6 DOHC VTEC in it to give it a little kick. wink
RD And then you could put one of those big stupid obnoxious ****in' coffee can exhausts on it, some gay looking lights, perhaps a big wing on the trunk lid (how does that work by the way??? Seems to me they would want the wing on the hood for down force over the driving wheels, but what do I know?), then a great big gauge cluster on the dash, and some NOS... :D :D :D :D

I bought an engine from here back in the mid 90's for my 86 accord. They have pretty good deals.
