My Lab. Unfortunately she is for sale. We are unable to give her the attention she needs. So she get's pissed and chews on the boat trailer brake line, among other things. She has champion lines and AKC papers. Interested parties, please pm me.

http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/625Coffee.JPG Dude, That looks like a puppy! Puppy's and young dogs chew shit up no matter what. If you get rid of that pup now you will miss out on a great dog. Build a kennel in your yard or fence her away from things when your not around.
Anyway one of my (free rescued) mutts had surgery on Monday. Here she is with her older sister (big time chewer / digger) checking up on her.
This is a great dog and was so worth saving.

http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/500/9bandit_konehead-med.jpg She is a puppy. Just turned one in July. The problem isn't that she chews on everything. The big problem is that we don't have the time for her that she deserves.

She's chewing because she's bored. Does she have adequate toys? I'm not talking stupid stuffed animals or plastic junk. I mean bones filled with peanut butter, or smoked, hoofs attached to ropes, kongs with goodies inside, etc. Everytime you see her chewing on her "bone" praise the heck out of her.
It sounds like you have already made up your mind that she's gone, but if she's not, consider looking in the yellow pages and getting a trainer to come to your house (costs about $250-$350 total for four sessions) I did and it's worth the investment. Labs are fantastic dogs, especially with a family. You just have to have them be party of your family (pack). If you can't do this, then don't get a lab.

Our Lab Java. He is 3 yo now but as a pup he did chew. We would just tire him out and it stopped. He has got a gray gotee(sp) going now  . He is AKC Chocolate Lab and he asked me if any of you have any Chocolate bitches that needed servicing :D Really we plan on breading him once to a AKC Chocolate and might keep a pup. He is the smartest dog I have ever owned. He is truly part of the family. You do need to spend time with a lab and find ways to deplete their energy

A lot of the pure breed goldens have thyroid problems which helps them pack on that weight. Make sure you have your vet check up on this or it could lead to major problems down the road. It happened to mine.

My wife threatened to get rid of my dog too, she was constantly biting at the kids, thats what puppy's do, now she just turned one and she is the best damn dog ever. You should look into a remote training collar, it has worked wonder on my dog even at the sandbar. It allows you to give a correction when the dog needs to be corrected. They are not cruel either, what the dog can not figure out is how quickly you got a hold of her to correct her when she does something wrong.
http://www.gundogsupply.com
has plenty of em. If you are going to give up your dog for free i would be interested in giving her a home, i am sure my wife would agree also.
She just needs 15 minutes in the morning and another 15 minutes in the evening of training and your sweet little puppy will behave. Plus rig up a pole with a rag so she has something to do when she is bored, please do not give up on that dog.

I need to take a sec here and say a big thanks to Mike (MandMVG) for coming through a few weeks ago with a Dogloo for my boys. I ran up to his house, had a great conversation with a hell of of nice guy and left with some new shelter for my dogs. Both of my dogs were seniors (14 1/2) and needed larger accomidations then they had, and Mike came through big time. The dog below is Bud, if he looks depressed, he is. My other dog (Kuma) passed less then a week ago and Bud is a wreck. He’s lost his 24 hr a day buddy
and is really showing the effects. We’re watching him carefully and giving him extra love but I really don’t have good feelings about his situation. We (wife, kids and I) are very fortunate that we have had 14 1/2 years with 2 great dogs.

This my other puppy Daisy who is going to be 3 years old in March! She was a terror when she was little but at about 1 - 1 1/2 yars old she kinda just mellowed out and is now the greatest dog ever. I couldn't ask for a better dog. Training is the key otherwise they can be pretty wild.

Great looking labs Dan. I can remeber when our's was that small and cute, about 75lbs ago. He's just about a year and a half now and finally starting to grow a brain and calm down too.
Chris
Thanks! Daisy (the chocolate) is about 80 pounds and pretty solid. For a while there I almost felt like finding a new home for her too. She chewed my A/C wires, patio furniture, whole sprinkler system, tiki torches, pretty much all the plants in the back yard and whatever else she could get her teeth into. I'm so glad I kept her though...she is so much fun and overall an awesome dog.

Yeah, we have such a small back yard that it wont support he mr's choice of German Shepard, or my choice of Yellow Lab/Blk Lab, so we ended up with a small dog that has a BIG dog attitude. she is a purebred Pembrook Corgi, and she can run circles around some of the big dogs I've come across, the only drawback is that she is by no means a "guard dog"

no actually, their temperment and active level are compared to that of a German Shepard, when it's time to play with her toy or chase something she will run and play hard,,the minute we say "thats enough" she will go over and lay down until the next time we say "where's your toy" the the fun starts all over again

Dog Prayers
Dear God,
Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one
another?
Dear God,
When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch?
Or is it the same old story?
Dear God,
Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang,
the
colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE is named for a dog?
How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice
ride! Would it be that hard to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler
Beagle?
Dear God,
If a dog barks his head off in the forest, and no human hears him, is
he still a bad dog?
Dear God,
We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals,
whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy
fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
Dear God,
When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get
in?
Dear God,
Are there mailmen in Heaven? ! If there are, will I have to
apologize?
Dear God,
Here is a list of a few of the things I must remember to be a good
dog:
I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw
it up.
I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc.,
just because I like the smell.
The sofa is not a face towel.
The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
My head does not belong in the refrigerator.
I do not need to suddenly stand straight up when
I'm lying under the coffee table.
I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house.
I will not throw up in the car.
The cat is not a squeaky toy; so when I play with him and he makes that
noise, it's usually not a good thing.
And God, when I get to Heaven, can I have my testicles back?
Sincerely,
The Dog
