I realize this is not a motorcycle board, but so many of you seem to own other toys, I thought you would probably be a great source for opinions on the subject.I'm looking for a new bike and I like both of these. The salespeople seem to prefer the GSXR but I like the sound of the V-twin in the RC.
Which bike is best?

apples and oranges bro.....which gsxr? i have ridden a few rc 51s and they were nice. the last gsxr i rode was a 96 750. it was nice but wasnt the rc. i cant really justify cmparing bikes when there is 5 years separating them. i have also ridden a newer tl 1000. they are nice as well. i think 77 charger has a newer gsxr. nice to see someone looking at something other than a r1! good luck......

I looked at the GSXR 1000.I also looked at the TL.The salesperson said the TL was down about 20 HP from the GSXR and it was heavier.

I have ridden them both, they are both totally different animals to ride. I personaly like the V twin becuase of my style of ridding through tight corners. The V twin accelerates better becuase it has alot of low end grunt and the GSXR always needed to be about 6000rpms before the power would start to come on. The other isue was how they handles through tight corners, The V twins would lay right into a turn and hold a line and the GSXR wanted to stand up on me through the tight turns and it seemed like I was always fighting it through the line.
The best bike I ever owned was a 1987 VFR 750

honda all the way. well thats all ive ever rode, from street to dirt to sand. imho i think honda builds a superior bike to everyone else, especially comparing stock to stock right out of the box. just like honda cars, even if you dont personally want to own one youll never find anyone that says theyre unreliable pieces of shit. youll only hear that they run forever and hold their resale value well.

dude go with the gixxer.i own a 750 and will pull from a duc 998 or rc51.dont believe it lets hit willow or even palomar mtn!you cant beat 400 pounds wet and 127(750) 144(1k)horsepower at the rear wheels. To give an example which bike holds the most track records?take a look at the recent cycleworld they have a shoot out ontheses bikes and compares track times.
The gix 750 does require the upper rpms but the 1000 doesnt. The nice things about the rc is that it does pull very good in the upper gears for freeway sppeds and passing but falls short in the upper.

I think it depends on your style of riding.
When I was young, fast was the ticket. I rode a 73 tri star kaw 750. It would fly. Now that I am old and fat, I ride my Dyna wide glide. I actually ride, not bar hop. ( not that theres anything wrong with that). If you are going to do those 4-5 hundered milers, you need a cruiser.
Just my .02 I hope it helps! :D

22twin, different breeds man. You must ride both of them to see what you're into. The GSX-R 1000 is the shit!! lighter and more HP than the new R-1. If you haven't yet rode a GSX-R 1000, be prepared, this thing is baaaaad. The RC-51 is also awesome, in it's class of course. you just have to ride them.
Good Luck and ride carefully!
