O.K. It was me talking about the $800 deal. It was before X-Mas and it was for a Yamaha PW 50. They were $850 plus tax here in St.Louis.There are many deals out there on them, at that time I found alot in SoCal for under 1K with lots of extras, 1 or 2 years old. I ended up buying a 1996 Suzuki 50cc quad for $500 out of the paper. One good thing to remember when buying one is they will hold there value to the T. You can sell one a year later for what you paid! :D

I think my buddy can get a xr50 for a grand out the door brand new. They own a motorcycle dealership up in utah. Thats what he told me he can get me one for. I will talk to him and see what he would be able to do. They are like 1400 or 1500 down here in so cal out the door I know that.

Why the 50's are so popular is, in a lot of cities you can ride them on the streets as long as they are 50cc and below. So the kids are buying them and putting all kinds of work into them like pipes, new bars, suspension, etc. They even have big bore kits for them. Let me know if any of you would like me to find out about the 50's. Like I said he told ME a grand out the door and it is yours (brand new). He can probably get better deals on the ktm 50's also. I am not going to go through the trouble if anyone is not really intrested. This is my good friend of mine, and he is in utah. I don't think it would be that much to ship. Another option is he comes down to so cal a lot for buisness and stays at my house. So he would be able to bring it down.

Just FYI -
I got one for sell. 2002 xr50 $900(here), procircuit pipe, aftermarket handlebars and tires. I still have all the factory products, including tires, which still have perfect tread. It's in good condition was ridden by my 7 year old. I'm not gonna lie and say hardly ridden, we went out alot. But I did all the oil changes, and kept airfilter cleaned. And these engines are really tough. Has minor scratches.

sounds like a good bike for a younger kid. Not sure how olds yours are. That sounds about right for a dealer let me see what I can do for you. IN will get back to you it might take a few days. I won't forget though.

My boy is 6 years old and 75 pounds. So it should work for him, I was thinking of picking a bike up this week if possible.

Bense468
02-26-2003, 03:43 PM
That sounds about right for him. It will be a good learning tool before he goes to an 80 or a 125. If you wanted a bike this week I doubt that I would be able to do anything for you. I have already made the call to see what he can do for me and he is going to get back to me. So I can probably let you know what I could get you one for this week but you would not have it in hand. It may not even be worth it if the shipping is too much. I don't think it is very much to ship something like that though. So I will let you know and we can go from there. This is a legit deal they own a dealership up there.

Just my $.02
If you are considering a xr70, I would take a long hard look at the new Suzuki drz110. Similiar in seat height the suzuki may be a little taller, better suspension, half clutch with ability to convert to a full clutch. JMHO, and I have no relation to the industry, but it's a much better bike in the same range. And don't let the 110 scare you, it's dialed down user friendly, with the ability to rev it out in the future.

What is the price for that bike?

02-27-2003, 07:22 AM
I was told $1600 by Champion Motorcycles in Mesa. But on cycle trader, there's a shop in LA or Corona(not sure) advertising them for $1199.

I looked at both bikes and printed the documentation. The guys I am thinking of buying from carry both. They are the LA group you were talking about. idea
I may end of changing my mind once there idea I will look for more opinions from the boards and make an smile_sp educated decision smile_sp
