I'm looking for a new 24 pitch mercury bravo 1 for my cat. Anybody out there know who's got the cheapest prices on new props in Southern California. So far lowest price I could find was $566 out the door with tax.

I'm not looking for a cheap quality prop, I just curious if anyone knows of a place that can beat $566 for a 24 pitch Mercury Bravo 1, four blade. The old one was chewed up going into Havasu Marina my last time out.

Try Bronson Propellers in Santa Ana. I just bought a 26" for $475 or $512 with tax. They also have an exchange program. They can do custom work too, if you need it. 714-953-5010

I am having a set of props re-done right now that Bronson just did. It seems that the props were no where close to being matched when they came back, which cause an rpm discrepency between the motors.
Just my experience, but we ended up getting a motor replaced under warranty when it looks like it was just a problem with the props. We will find out soon when I get the props back again. They are at Gibbs in havasu.

Bronson Hill you can't go wrong with them! And if you do you better keep your mouth shut about it or joel down there will scream at ya when you go to pick up your props.
Ya know what I'm just going to come right out and say it.. They flat out RUINED 2 Brand new props of mine, and my garage was starting to look like a dam prop shop because i had to buy two new ones.
I'd give you my whole expereince with them but you already get the idea.
RD RD is not the only guy that I personally know that has had props ruined or f'd up by them. They dont intend to 'make things right' from what I hear either.

You might also try your boat manufacturer. Sometimes they will pass on good-guy prices to their customers to help get the boats set up right.

Ask Teague's people who they recommend...
...and who they don't.

If you want to have a custom lab job or have prop balanced, matched, or repaired, I have a great recommendation - YORK PROPELLERS is Anahiem, Ca. That guy over there knows his schznit

I've tried going through my manufacturer, they told me it would be $600 for a new one. They also told me they would sell me a used one in good condition at a $200 discount. It sounded like a great deal, but it depends on what one's definition of good condition is. Because when I looked it over, it was pitted and it was obvious that work had been done to it to try and straighten out the blades.

Cheetah Bob used to sell me brand new Bravo I props for 375 bucks. Those were the days!

Prop? I thought a prop was when you were telling someone they did something well?

Thanks for the info from all who replied. I've now got a quote from Bronson, and I will be calling the other shops you suggested for some price and availabitly checks. If the boat is done in time, I hope to see some of you down in Havasu for memorial, look for The EduKATor.

Big thanks to the folks at ULTRA for helping me out with the new prop. I just wish the 27 Shadow would have been out before I purchased our 26 Cat. Thanks again, hope to do business with you again soon.

I see they list a Bravo prop for $406 but the same spec prop with "solid hub" for $441. What's the reason for the solid hub versus "non-solid" hub? Inquiring minds want to know.

I've had great luck with Kevin over at R&R Prop Shop (http://www.randrpropshop.com) in Henderson, NV. Great prices and may even have what you want on the "used" wall. That may save you even more. He's usually willing to deal on a trade too, if you have one that isn't working for you right now. 702-564-7502.

Speaking of props - I put a little "dog ear" on my 4 blade Bravo 1 prop last weekend. I hammered it out and shaped it with a file as best I could. It doesn't look too bad to me. I called Hill (not sure if I'll go with them) and got a qoute of $175-$200 to repair, balance, and finish the prop. Is this a fair price? Not sure if I want to do it now or after the season. I don't have any vibration or cavitation/airation...what do you guys think?
Anyone know where I can have a little piece of my skeg (I have the piece) put back on too??? The place Hill recommended quoted me $450

Another on-line prop source is Propellers Online (http://propellersonline.com/).
They show a price of $453.85 but they do not say what hub. The best part is FREE SHIPPING. I have bought one prop from them last year with no problems.
