Came home on Rice Road on Sunday and saw that the shoe tree is thriving once again.
I was really bummed when some assclown torched it, I always look forward to pointing it out to my 5 year old daughter.
If i wasnt going 80mph I would have taken a picture for you guys.
For all you going to river/lake this weekend, have fun and be safe!!

Yep,, I think the second one did it.

RiverDave:
If somebody knows it certainly isn't me. It's been going on for years though. Someone said something to the effect of it going on for 20+ years, but I don't believe that. I remember it starting in the early 90's, 91'ish.. but that's just what I remember, I could be wrong.
RD Well I moved from Havasu in 94 and I dont remember any damn shoe tree on that road.....hmmm.
Does anyone know the history on this mystery....hehehe.
Her454 > Bored and still needing details :)

THE SHOE THING IS QUITE NEW. AS A KID WE CALLED IT THE "PEE TREE". MY DAD USED TO STOP THERE ON THE WAY OUT SO WE COULD PEE. YEP THATS WHAT WE CALLED IT.

The bra tree needs some help, seems as though all the bras are blowing off the tree and into that shack next to it. Come on girls... if your going to the river why do you need a bra? You don't so hang it up on the BRA TREE!!!

Hope it makes a comeback.
I first noticed the shoes about 12 years ago.
Years before that,, different color ribbons were ocassionally tied on it like you see on the sagebrush alongside the highway. I dunno why.

I contributed to its health with some water shortly after the Memorial Weekend torching.

How long its been there I'm not completely certain but I have seen a tidbit on the Travel channel about it once. Also talked with some folks one time that heard about it and were there looking at it while visiting from someplace like Kansas.

Good job Ziggy. Hopefully it just needs some TLC.
