Ok - I know this is not a boat topic but people do secure their stuff. Any advice, thoughts or advice on ADT security systems (wireless). Considering the pros and cons, appreciate any pertinent info. Thanks.

Try a Dog? Because they scare away salesman alot more than a alarm does when you are home.

I would stay away from wireless stuff. I don't know about ADTs quality but it would have to be pretty good to avoid problems with a wireless system. I have had Brinks in two homes since 1995 and have never had a false that wasn't our fault. Their prices are reasonable and their service is great.

Thanks for the replies -
We do have a 130 lb shepard (all black - great for night coverage) that takes care of the salesmen and the house - we are thinking about the detached garage with the boats and ATV's in it.
So Brinks is better than ADT and wired is better than wireless. Brinks only makes wired ? :)

I don't know which is better. Just have never had a problem with Brinks. Wireless typically has more problems due to low batteries on the sensors, RF interference, etc.

We have ADT and have never had a problem with it. I actually worked for ADT for a while. Our neighbors have Brinks and the police are over there every time they go out of town. ( I guess the alarm goes off by itself?)

try a local company you seem to get better service.ADT uses the cheapest products like Ademco try and get a Radionics hard wire system. The nation wide company's only care about the monitoring. You may find it hard to get ADT to come out and do a service call.

Bought a house in Havasu last year, and took advantage of the free installation offer through ADT. It is a wireless system, and in the 10 months I have had it I haven't had one problem. I will dig up the number of the company we got it through if you need it. It was out of Fort Mojave.

I have an ADT system at home, most of the house is hard wired but I do have three wireless devices.
After three years, no problems to report.

I'm just saying that I as a woman feel safer with an alarm.

I have ADT on both of my homes. My river house is wireless. I have never had any major problems with either one. I prefer the alarm system to be hard wired, but I never had any problems with the wireless.
