The off season wasn't a total waste. I built an addition onto the house, giving me the luxuries I (& Mrs. BoatCop) always wanted.

Even though we're in the desert, we wanted the ambiance a fireplace gives. I finally got the mantle (oak-hand made) stained and put up today.

This was also my first attempt at tiling.

I also tiled the whole bath, floor and surround myself. Not too shabby for an amateur.

NOthing's better than soaking in a jacuzzi after a long day on the River. (Unless, of course, if your not soaking alone. :D )
Anyone else spend the winter tinkering around the house?

Nice work Boat Cop. I hate tile. But I am good with my hands, and cant see spending money on things I know I could do. Not sure how much I saved by doing all this, but it is approaching 20k.
A little of this,

Had some help from my bro, and a buddy of mine, but I did most of it myself with the old lady fetching supplies for me.

Nice work all you guys :) :) ...I'm a bit like Brendella and do whatever I can myself instead of hiring out...No pics available but just did my first tiles in Havasu too--turned out A+. Basically I've done it all from framing to block walls, flat work, drywall, electrical, plumbing...guess the only thing I haven't done yet is stucco.

Nice job donut muncher. I like the tub. I WANT ONE! B JET WOW!!! Whata lotta tila! Ok now my leeetle project.
The wife and I live in a very small cottage by the lake. 865 sq. ft. 3 tiny bedrooms.(microscopic) The walls were all paneling so the wife decided she wanted to paint.

and she decided she wanted some shelving built along the wall. This project got bigger and BIGGER. I spent a good part of the winter building the shelves in the garage. Why am I behind on my boat project? I also cut the platform for the fireplace down from a square to an octagon shape and laid new tile.
When she went to Chicago to visit family I enlisted some freinds and brought the shelving in. I worked till 3:00 for three nights installing them and doing the wiring. Then I had the carpet layers come in and lay the carpet while I was at work. (no time) When I got off work a freind helped me move the furniture back in an hour before she got home. This is what she found.

In order for the shelves to fit under the windowsill and still house the stereo speakers I had to cut holes in the floor and drop them 3/4 of an inch

What a HUGE hassle but boy was I da man when she got home. Cool thread boatcop.
