Hot Boat Flag

I have an idea to kick around. I think ***boat should produce a flag that can be raised by all of us, so when we are on the water, we know who's a reader or is a frequenter to the forums... no-one ever knows who each other are on the lake. (The guy who snakes me in the gas line could be a forum poster----I may not care then)
Just an idea... Who can sew?

Actually, I think it's a great idea. :)
Even if someone isn't a member, you might meet them on the water and they could ask about it. I've met lots of people on the water that I'd be semi-interested in staying in touch with.

I think I brought up this very same idea in one of my previous threads. I think it's a great idea but many politics are involved. If Hot Boat creates the flag, it would have to include their logo/copyright, etc. and they would receive all the proceeds of any sales. However, an independent person or company could create a "generic" flag that we could all identify on the river, similar to the multi-colored flag posted above or even an OP6C black pirate flag. Personally, I think a "RiverKitty" flag would work out just fine!!! :D :D wink Just throwing out ideas here. I'm not so sure Hot Boat would even be interested in such an endeavor. Heck, they're having problems just trying to create bumper stickers! I foresee a lot of $revenue$ for whomever chooses to take on this task. JMO!
Moneypit, you should start a poll to see how many peeps would be interested!

I've been thinking about this also, and here's my .02
A while back, a few threads were devoted to being "RA". From what I see, the complaints lately have been about people not being RA. What about a relatively unobtrusive decal that says only "RA" that is put on your boat and tow vehicle? The meaning wouldn't be general knowledge, but would be easily recognizable. No ***boat affiliation to muck things up, either. This is something I could produce and send out to those that request them (but not advertise them). Kinda like OPC6 is, or was.

Having these flags wouldnt be a problem for me. I have a place where I get my company shirts done. But, It would have to be ONE design. To have everyones avatar would be expensive. I could possibly have the flags silscreened in bulk and then individually have the board names added. But I could check on the pricing. "HBF" would be a good start. Now we have to decide the picture to be placed on it. Ummmm how bout' a boat? idea

I had a concept: RK avatar on the left, on an orange background. Center top a purple/blue HB in large shadow with the member # under it. I made it in Word, but could not get it to transpose as a single image. Looks distinctive.

I know that you can have kitty ears put on your motorcycle helmet, and i have seen the "eared" hoodie sweatshirt pullovers, my oldest daughter has one, and there has got to be a mfg of baseball caps that has already done just that.

I think using numbers will add a bit of insider feel. The key with the flag is to attract other HB fans, so simple is best. The use of RK avatar is because it is the most recognized symbol of the forums (Other than Tom Brown's). I went with orange for obvious reasons, but I think we should avoid blue, black, red or white backgrounds because they are popular colors and would not stand out as much.

Well, that's true, but how will you recognize them on the river when there's hundreds of boats on the water?? Dang! I've been to the river several times and the only boat/person I've recognized is Party Cat. Mainly because he has that black OP6 flag on his boat. You can spot him from miles away! It would be nice to have some way of identifying a fellow board member out on the water so you can stop by and say, "Howdy"! Otherwise, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack! JMO

We would need to check with Party Cat to see if he doesn't mind us using this, as this is his design. Or what you could do is wait till OP6 and check out the flags I made for him. Wow ---- Looks like my idea has taken off! I havent been around lately but I like some of the ideas. Party Cats stuff is bitchen, but I think we still need a flag that represents the ***boat forums. To get an Op6 flag could mean that you have been to that event and not a forum member. EduKator's ideas are very good. RiverKitty has the right idea about the color though. It need to be a recognizable color....what I mean is something that stands out but not a typical boat color. Anyway... keep going. Hurry up.. or I wont be able to use this flag until next year!

Kim Hanson's orange fade to red flame with 1/2 black with blue letters HB - VERY CLEAN & LEGIBLE - can't get so fancy that we can't read. Some were very busy!
