My wife and I are going tomorrow, and possibly back on Saturday. We are purchasing a new boat for next year, and it sure beats driving all over the West Coast finalizing our decision on what exactly we want. I realize not all the dealers we are considering will be at Long Beach, but by looking at the exhibitor list, it does knock out quite a few.
Who knows, we might just be getting a boat tomorrow!

Last time I went to this boat show, it sucked. Not as many of the custom boat companies were out there. Waste of money to me. I don't know if it has changed since. Lotta of the larger production boats, yachts etc. out there.

In the past I would have said it was not worth going to, HOWEVER,,,,,, idea
The "WORLDS" (waterski championships) are on in Long Beach!! Skiers from around the World will be here. I think that might add to the Boob....Boat Show.
:D

A quick list of exhibitors include:
Advantage
Eliminator
Essex
Force
Hallett
Laser
Ultra
That really helps me in my shopping. No, it's not all the manufacturers I'm considering, but it is enough to get me there.

Back from the boat show. By far the nicest boat we found that suits our needs is the Hallett 240. It has an 8 1/2' beam that extends well up into the bow, making it a very roomy boat with lots of storage. Rigging was immaculate, and just a very clean nice boat. It might not be the sleekest fastest hull, but the entire package seemed very nice.
If anyone here on the boards has one, I would appreciate any and all comments.
The other boat we really liked, was the Ultra 247XS. We didn't like it quite as much as the Hallett, but it was less expensive, and still very nice. I just liked the Hallett more, as it was the "biggest" 24' boat I've ever been on.
Again, any comment on theese boats would be great.
Thanks, and I will post some pictures of the Hallett later.

I saw that Hallett today to , not as much $ as I
thought it would be .The Ultra 247 looked good too, & they offered to buy mine back ,so I could get the 247 .I think I would pay the extra & get the Hallett . Just need to convince the wife .

The Hallett 240 is a great boat...most the Halletts are great boats...like RD said, you can't wrong...they hold their value very well and ride great in all conditions...don't short yourself on the power for it..

The Hallett 24 is a proven hull and will be there for you in 10-15 years. If you sell to upgrade in between that time, you won’t find a better resale value.
People always talk about; “customer service this, customer service that…had to take the boat in for some *warranty* work this and that…”. Truth is, after 8.5 years, our little Hallett has never gone back to Irwindale for any issues, period. I know three other 210 owners who have also never made a trip back to Irwindale (alright, maybe we've gone back to get a fresh sticker...because those do wear out after about 5 years).
Word of advice when dealing with Hallett. When they say this is how much their boat costs…they might not budge. At the show we talked Eliminator down for a 23’ Eliminator Eagle for $5K less than the 21’ Hallett…which made no difference in the price we paid for the Hallett.
Another similar boat I would recommend is the 22’ Howard Offshore…that thing makes our 21’ look like an 18’!!! Solid and roomy boat, great looks too. The Offshore model, not the sprint

At the show we talked Eliminator down for a 23’ Eliminator Eagle for $5K less than the 21’ Hallett…which made no difference in the price we paid for the Hallett. We had the same experience. We actually had Eliminator quote us 10k less than the Hallett for an equally equipped 23 Eagle. Hallett on the other hand might throw in a Bimini as a kicker to their deal.
What actually surprised us though, is when you spec out a boat, and actually compare apples to apples, the Hallett's aren't that much more.

The Offshore model, not the sprint Howard is one of the other manufacturers we want to look at before buying..The only problem with that, is that we practically have to drive to the end of the earth from where we live just to get there.

Phebus,
The drive isn't that bad. Besides, after Howard walk next door to Teague Marine and look at all of "stuff" you can spend the rest of your money on.
