I was looking through some old pics and thought I'ed scan / post one of Copper Canyon. It was taken in 1988 or 89. Before MTV did their thing and ****ed it up for everyone.
To bad I didn't have a wider angle lens but hey, with a point and click ya get what ya get.
I've got shit loads of pics that I'll be posting from time to time. Enough to get you snow bound suckas through the winter anyway. :)
The guy in the lower left was my best friend. He passed away this year. I guess this is one way I can keep him around in sprits. We sure had hella big fun back then.

Oh there was plenty of thongs. Not as much as there is now but still a lot. Stay tuned as it's gonna be a long winter for some and I don't want to post all of them at once.
No pasties, back then it was "LET THOSE PUPPIES BREATHE!" :D

Looks like a great Scratch and Dent Boat Fest....so what happens if your caught in the middle of that mess and ya need to leave?

Ahhh the good ole days!
I agree with you Hack, the biggest change is the Tuna Crowd.
I remember we used to have a little 16ft ski boat with a 115 Merc OB and it was plenty of boat for Havasu.

I remember we used to have a little 16ft ski boat with a 115 Merc OB and it was plenty of boat for Havasu. The little 16' at the bottom of the pic is the boat I rode in that day. But it was still pretty rough back then. More from wind then big boats.
Barney, look at the Baker RST that's 3 boats up. That was the boat that Al Stoker drove in the '82 Havasu Classic. Mark just stuck a stock power head on it and had an interior put in. The was a bad ass boat back then.

Another intresting thing about the pic is the fact that I only count one bumper and $3 life vest to protect your boat from dings and they aren't doing there job. I guess nobody cared.

Aside from the dope and the porn video's, that's why they close it off on Holiday weekends now.....if some one needs emergency help, the rescuers can't get to them easily.

Yah, you definetly did not want to have a real nice boat in there that you did not want to get scratched. I had an old beat up 19ft. jet boat that I didn't care if it got a scratch in it. If you were in the middle of that; you were pretty much in it for the most part of the day. But damn it sure was fun. :)

Well, I think this one is from 1990. The styles were not the same but hey, a thongs a thong right. Now that's an ass!

Copper Canyon was still open when I lived in SD. You did not want to be the back unless you had enough beer and food to last! Cause as far as getting out you were shit out of luck. A buddy of mines little 16' boat sunk from all the boats pushing in and down on his little dink!
I know I never went to the back of the canyon on a holiday weekend! By the end of the day I was shot from the partying and trying to keep all the other boats off of mine. Not an easy task! Bet nobody remembers a black Scarab out there in the early 90's. If so that was me!

I'm sure if you look hard enough you would see me in there somewhere! Those were some of the greatest party moments in my life. My buddy had a 19' hallet jet that we used to get 5 guys on with a minimum 5-6 cases of beer & a bag of chips for the day! Get there early & find your way to the middle! We killed 25 cases of beer one trip over a 5 day period. Had bottle rocket wars in the Nautical rooms with a m100 that got tossed in the shower for the grand finally! Came home & was seriously ill for a few days! :D Right on Dave for bringing back some good memories!!! :)
