I'm looking at buying a 4-wheel drive RC truck and am wondering which one of these two is the best route:
Savage 21 Nitro

or the
Traxxas T-Maxx 2.5 (nitro/gas motor produces over 1HP and it will do 40+MPH)

I have the T-Maxx 2.5. My sister and her husband have an R/C offraod race track. There are a couple guys with the Savage, but the T-Maxx 2.5 is faster and handles/turns better. The Savage is tougher truck though, and has a much tougher suspension. I guess it comes down to what you want out of it. I don't race the T-Maxx, and mine is stock, but we do run it on the track and race for fun.

I have the T-Maxx and love it!! It is a little hard to tune, but once you learn it will scream. I put a big bore exhaust and a better air filter and it does wheelies from a dead stop. Whichever one you buy, be prepared to be at the hobby shop alot, it is a cool hobby and fun to work on. I just bought a second one.

I looked around, drove alot of cars and in the end I went with the E-MAXX. I use it for a little backyard bashing when im relaxing. I just didnt want to mess around with the nitro, im lazy. The electric is problem free, quiet, does 29 with the gps ziptied to it, stock. I havnt broke it yet and I beat the hell out of it. Its fun, easy to use, and can break ankles fairly easily. Here it is.

don't ask me, my better (worse) half works for HPI...my opinion would be in favor of HPI....

Summerlove - The nitro versions we are talking about start out at about $400 for just the truck and transmitterafter you buy fuel, batteries, needed accessoriesyou are in about another $100. You can easily spend a couple of grand on a hobby like this. It is addicting.

At the track one night, we had a few beers and got an idea:

The hobby is fun, but very addicting........which means it can also get expensive.

I too have the E-Maxx, very quiet and sturdy. I also have the T3 Associated. I think it's kind of cheap and junky. I would go Savage 21 OR, the new OFNA dual engine titan is really awesome!!!!
