Ahoy there.
Some dude just gave me a 350 engine from a firebird, complete with heads and all.
The compression test says good, so i'm happy.
Now i have the engine for the next project.

Most pontiac guys would say "the best thing about a 350 is that a 455 will fit in its place" :D Hot Rod followed a build up of one of those 350's in their engine masters challenge a while back. Good luck with whatever project it will power and kick some 455 ass.
PS my buddy has a 350 in his 65 GTO and it hauls eek!

As I'm sure you already know If you build it with the right parts you can get major horses out of it! Also you should thing about switching to the Vortec heads and manifold if it doesn't have them already

I wouldn't put a pontiac 350 in a boat. Most of the pontiac 350's left intact are cast piston, 2 bolt main, two barrel, small valve head engines. Marine parts for pontiacs are scarce and pricey. It would take a lot of money to build it right and after it's all said and done, a 455 would have been cheaper and faster. If you are committed to the Pontiac aspect of this kind of project use the 350 while you build your 455. IMO torque is where its at for a marine engine and a 350 does not have the bore/stroke ratio to make satisfactory numbers. Pls don't be offended but I've been there and done that. 1979 Southwind TD 455 Pontiac.

No offence taken Twister, let's see what i can get out of it.
I got it for free, so i'm in a no loose position.
If all goes wrong i can sell it to someone who wants it for a car.
