I have an offer to buy a 26' 1976 Daytona. It needs alot of work but I am not afraid of that. What do you guys and gals think it is worth. I even have the wifes blessing within a certain dollar amount. It is a fomaily member so I believe the info about the exact condition he is telling me is pretty accuurate. No engine, needs rewired, gel needs buffed possible new, trailer needs work.

By the pictures you are showing here the boat is not worth much. It will take time and money to put this back together and the boat will not be worth much. You can buy a old boat like that for under 15K all day long that is running condition.

looks like this is the most sea worthy part of the deal.

Find out out much the owner will give you to make it dissappear from his yard.

Stay away from that thing. By the looks of it you will spend more putting it back together than its worth. The owner should pay you to take it his hands.

Not worth the time to chop for fire wood. I'd pass on that one.

that thing is not worth the gallon of gas it would take to send that peice to boat heaven.

You gotta be kidding, right?? This is one of those trick questions where we all give him a hard time for being stupid. I follow the flock on this one. There has to be other boats out there that are in better shape, somewhere?? eek! eek!

First of all I don't think it's a Daytona, by looking at the pic's. Second....how could someone let a boat get that bad.

Well Done

I agree with the other posts. Spectratoad....let this one pass and spend your money and time on one in running condition. The wife will actually love you for it and it will be more friendley on your wallet!!

Thanks guys for the input. I really want it but what you guys said is what my gut was telling me. It is a family member that owns it and he says the fiberglass is in good shape just needs alot of mechanical and all electrical work to get it water worthy. He bought it like this but I have to wonder what the previous owner was thinking to let it get into this shape.

That's a boat????? He should pay you to take it! A tow yard wouldn't even pay money for it, in fact the goodwill wouldn't even want it!

Fat Rat, Here is a pic of the boat. He says it is a Daytona. I don't know much about being able to tell what make a boat is by looking at it.

Yeah, Like I said that was my gut instinct. I was really hoping for some good news from you guys but oh well, it probably saves me alot of heartache and allows me to waste my money on my Spectra. :D

If I were to guess I would say its a bell housing and a transmision or transfer case. I dont know a thing about V-drives but thats my guess.

http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/307IMG_0476-med.jpg Come on you guys! That's a FIND! Check out the triple (even has one tire holding air), the bow rail (a personal favorite) and it even has a floater (with a 26 no less!).
Let it go... life's too short.

I think it is the transmission. It goes in the boat sitting to the left of it.

Well, it's a Daytona, just not an Eliminator Daytona. Looks like you have a fair amount of dry rot inside, looks like it's seen some weather. Is that a 6-pack of Keystone Classics on that trailer? You might need to do some carbon dating on that piece, bit it probably dates back to the early 70's... I guess. Keep looking, you can probably find something a little better to start off with. Even if you got it for free, you will probably have to sink a lot just to make it worthy. Keep looking, there are lots of boats out there!

At least the grass has been cut nicely around the boat. wink No weeds sticking up through the trailer.

Ok guys, You are baggin' on someone in my family. He got this boat from someone else not too long ago and his wife I guess recognizes what you guys have and says it needs to go. He is not the one that let it get like this. He has a few airplanes and a crop dusting business so I know he takes care of the mechanical side of things very well.

IF THAT WAS IN MY YARD, I WOULD PAY YOU TO GET IT THE HELL OUTTA THEIR FOR ME........ eek!

How much did he pay for it (If you don't mind me asking?) He can always donate it to charity and use it as a right off for his taxes.
