I traded in my Silverado for a Chevy Avalanche without body hardware (no plastic crapola). Mine is all white with no roof rack or running boards. It has 2 big, deep ice chests built into the bed that drain out the bottom! It has 17" wheels and a Bose stereo with 6 CD changer in dash and subwoofer under the center console. All stereo controls are on the steering wheel and the AC/heater has a thermostat so its not always on. Best of all, it has rear coil springs instead of leaf springs and load leveling shocks. It rides like a Cadi but tows just as much as my old truck. It is a bad ass ride. I guess I started to feel bad for the poor suckers that had to ride in the back of the extended cab Silverado when going to the river. The Avi has a full size back seat and plenty of leg room. I'll try to get some pics up later this week. I am getting a Magnaflow cat back, K&N intake (you could have guessed that :D ) and a billet grill. Now the big question... FIND ME SOME CLEAR TAIL LIGHTS. I checked everywhere and can't find any...HELP.

Sounds great!.
What's the tow rating of the new truck? Do those come in a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton? How much does your boat weigh?
I really like the looks but didn't know how much they can tow.

Clear tailights? Really? If you're serious try the Long Beach Hot Rod Swapmeet at Veterans Stadium. I think it's this weekend, or next weekend, I'm not sure???? (Every 2nd Sunday of the month)
If your not serious, then, ha ha you got me!!

You may also try E-bay (http://www.ebay.com) , or some of the online truck places like Summit (http://www.summitracing.com) , Jegs (http://www.jegs.com/) , AZTrucks (http://www.aztrucks.com/) , or even possibly JCWhitney (http://www.jcwhitney.com/) .
Good luck in your search.

Congrats on your Avalanche. You'll like it a lot. It rides better than any pickup since it's built on a Suburban chassis.
I've got a 2003 2500 4x4 with the big block 496 (8.1L) and 4.10 gears. Got plenty of options and accessories including 6" RCD lift, Bilstein shocks, dual batteries, Flowmaster exhaust, aftermarket heavy-duty receiver (factory ones on all trucks suck for towing heavy trailers) and more.
There are no clear taillights available - at least none that anyone has found. For lots more info on Avalanches (more than you'll ever want to know) go to the Chevy Avalanche Fun Club (http://www.chevyavalanchefunclub.com)

If you have any questions check out the website Dan mentioned above, lots of good info. Also, there is a Southern California Chevy Avalanche chapter, they have some cool cruises and events. The website is So Cal Avalanche (http://www.socalavalnche.com) Tell them that Lightning sent you wink If you have any questions on after market stuff, send me an email.

I have a 1/2 ton with the 3.73 gear ratio. It is listed as 7300 lbs tow capacity. My "old" Silverado was an extended cab 1/2 ton also with a 3.73 rear end. It was rated at 8,100. Yes, I lost some but when I had it for the GM 24 hr. test drive I hooked it up to the boat and it was no problem at all. (Don't tell them I did that). I wish they had the 2500 w/o body hardware or I would have got that but no such dice at this time. My boat is just a 21 ft Ultra LX with a 454 and jet drive so it does not weigh much. Last weekend I hooked the new Avi up to the horse trailer with a draft horse in it and it too was fine.

FYI: 2500 Avalanche 4x4 with 8.1L (496) can tow up to 12,000 pounds

Still can't get myself past those funky "cateye" headlights...look way to much like the eye glasses of yesteryear...just missing the little pearls.
But enjoy it regardless BOWTIE---its a fine truck, just not a FORD. wink
