I tow with a 97 Grand Cheeroke Ltd and I never had any problems. Even towing up a 12% grade for 14 miles from Lake Mohave back to Kingman in 114 degree weather.

my buddy has a 97 grand cher. 6 cyl. we towed my 21' omega day cruiser all the time. (yea the car didnt do 60 up hil) but it was okay. "the boat was about 4000 lbs. it was good though. as far as the frame handling the weight! it should do it. the V-8 is gonna be much much better.

I should have given more info. I want to buy a wrangler 4x4 6cyl so we can use it to tow, off road, leave in havasu ect. I have a tow vehicle now but I would like to drive the wifes car to the river and save on gas. New scenario.

i towed boats years ago with a cj-5 and a wrangler not the best tow vehicles in the world but i made it to the lake. i dont know about the new suspentions but the jeeps i had were terrible. they would sway in the wind and felt like you were being the boat and trailers bitch. very hard work to keep it straight. in fact i was pullrd over for drunk driving pulling my 18 ft tahiti because the wind was tossing me around so bad. of course i was sober and they let me go.

Some people will pull with anything. I saw a guy pulling a Tige competition boat with a Nissan Pathfinder today... Glad he was going the other way on a really divided highway cause it wasn't a pretty picture. Wouldn't want to be around if he had to stop in a hurry either.
These are probably the same people who put 5th wheels in their Toyotas. Just stay away from me on the road. :)

The Jeep should work for short distances, I would'nt want to tow to far with one.
That short wheelbase make for a great offroader but a poor tow rig.

my cousin had a 4x4 wrangler and was towing an 18' jet.he had to make a quick stop.....well he didn't.the weight of the boat lifted the back of jeep and it started to skip and jump all over the place...almost jack knifed .he said it was way too scary!
DONT BUY IT FOR TOWING!! unless your buying an aluminum row boat...or a bayliner :D Cole

I have a jeep that I leave in Havasu to launch the boat at Windsor and take the boat back up to the house. I have a long drive way up about 100 feet and the Jeep Wrangler does a good job. The nice thing about the jeep it is fun to go off roading, driving around town with the top off, and has the ability to launch my Howard Boat. I do not have to drive a monster truck the lake anymore.

Itow with a `99 Wrangler Sahara. 20` Southwind. I wouldn`t tow something this big and heavy unless it was a tandem. Mine tows fine, I also have trailer brakes(surge).

I used to tow my 18'er with a CJ 5. Serious fun in the sun! This is when I was 18 and fearless. Dont think I would do it now cause you are all over the place in the wind. Brakes, who needs stabilty then. Your stopping anyway right? In all seriousness it was a fairly dangerous tow vehicle. But I also had 34" or 35" tires on it. The short wheel base is what makes it so unstable. Might have been a little top heavy too.

Oh ya, I pull with my JEEP. I have a CJ-5 with a little-bitty Ford V-8 and it seems that I have to pull chevy's and dodges out all the time. :D
