OK, so my buddies give me sh*t about this, but I like to listen to oldies stations. Now you guys can give me sh*t about it as well. :p
My dad made us listen to this stuff when I was a kid, especially at the lake, and I guess it just rubbed off. To quell some of the critisism, I do listen new new stuff (when I can find it, what happened to all the good rock stations?)
Anyone else?

I was heartbroken when I found out the music I grew up with (Van Halen) was now "classic rock"...... frown

The only problem I have, is these radio stations play the same "so called oldies" over and over again. They don't play the old bands new stuff. I stick to CD's. That way I listen to what I want when I want. I'm 44 I listen to everything. rock, punk, new wave, country, jazz. you name it. smile_sp

It is sad when you see the songs you grew up on available in a three disc set for $19.99 at 3 in the morning. cry
Or when your kids tell you that, "that is so 80's!" :p and they are only 9 and 10. I ask them how they would even know about the 80's

There is a DJ on KLOS that i grew up listening to Jim Ladd, he was on of the originals from KMET, any of you remwmber that station??? Jeff Gonzer and Paraquat Kelly, Jim Ladd Bob Coburn,Dusty Street,Uncle Joe.... and others, Anyway Ladd has an open request and what he likes to call "Free Form Radio" which is just like i remember it way back when , cruising up and down Van Nuys Blvd. He does play some of the what is now the top 40 "Classic" rock songs but will pull out a gem that you haven't heard in forever and sounds so good. He still can kick some butt and gets opinionated sometimes, but he can put together a killer set of music and i can just kick back on the porch in the back or just go for a long drive, well maybe not now with the gas prices the way they are, listening to some great tunes.
He's on weeknights from 10pm til 2 am.
Check him out. He's one of the models Tom Petty used for his last dj song and album.
See ya Mike VG

Now do any of you remember The King Biscuit Flour hour concert series, KMET played them right after Dr. D's show, i have a bunch of those that i taped. Every once in a while i come across the boxes of tapes in the garage and the wife just rolls her eyes and gets ready for the tape of the week, and yet she still loves me... go figgur.
See ya Mike VG
