Anyone subscribe to Car and Driver? In the latest issue it talks about a Twin Turbo Cadillac EXT - it only costs $126,620 and it has:
A 427 twin turbo EXT
700 hp @ 5200 RPM
740 Ft Lb of torque @ 4600 RPM
0 - 60 4.0 sec
0 - 100 11.1 sec
0 - 130 21.2 sec
This truck is quicker than a Porche 911, BMW M3, and the Ferrari 360 Modena F1!!!
Standing 1/4 mile 12.7 @ 106
Braking 70 - 0 182 Ft
Pulls .83g on the skid pad
11 MPG City
Article says the engine is the bulk of the cost at $55,975. It is the block that was developed by GM for the 2001 Le Mans winning Corvettes.
The Pistons are 4.13 inches wide (stock is 4.0)
Compression is lowered from 10.0:1 to 8.5:1
Stroke increased from 3.62 tp 4.0
2 Garrett turbochargers increase intake air pressure by 9.0 psi
There are 2 12x24 intercoolers
Looks like this is the same or very similar engine John Lingenfelter put in the Twin Turbo Corvette a little while back that had a real hard time keeping the tires from roasting the pavement. In the heavier EXT it says there was not a problem putting the power down.
Other improvements include stronger clutches and higher shift pressure for the tranny and a high perf torque converter. Alcon brakes, stiffer suspension, 20 inch wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Zeros, and the steering idler arms were stiffened.
Lingenfelter has mellowed a bit and doesn't go for a lot of external flash these days. Same as the Twinturbo Vette was a total sleeper so is this. Article says inside the cabin it is pretty quiet even when you get on it. But spectators outside say it sounds like a jet takin off.
