How come we, well I, never see any new hotrod type boat dealers anymore? I'm talking about V-drives, jets, 19' long, big motors. All I see is old sangers, ect. with bitchen paint jobs. Why wouldn't Hallat, Schiada, ect. display a 2003 19' gofast boat?

Schiada had a boat in Hot Boat at an evaluation not long ago.

Bigger boats handle the current lake conditions better and they also have a larger profit margin for the builder.

I was at Schiada last weekend, checking on my boat, and they had 3 or 4 21 footers in production. Remember, the same engine you would put into your typical 26 to 28 footer is what would power a Schiada 21. I think people want bigger and don't want to spend all the money for engines on a smaller boat.

I saw two 21 foot cruisers with tunnel bottoms and one with a 600 inch pfaff motor and 3 circle flats at rc last week all 03s

There are a couple builders still making the smaller Hot Rods but overall it's just a matter of $$$$$. It cost a few thousand more to build the bigger boat but the profit is thousands more.
Tom Papp Racing (http://www.tompappracing.com) builds a 19' Edge Stealth, 21' Stealth
J&M Marine (http://www.jmmarine.com) builds a 21' Edge Phantom & Deck
Ultra Custom Boats (http://atomic.he.net/~ucb1/) builds a 21' Phantom & a 19' Shadow
Carrera Boats (http://www.carreraboats.com/Pages/20eclipse.html) built a cool 20' Eclipse but the company has been sold and I don't know the current status of this model?
All of these guys build a great boat and Tom is the only one that builds a full race & lake race version. If you manage to make it to any of the boat drags you'll see quite a few 19' Edge Stealths built by Tom.

Eliminator will still build you a 19' Daytona. smile_sp Many mfgs. still offer small boats, but sell what the people want. People want big boats, and mfgs. make more money on the bigger boats, that is why you see a sh*t load of them. frown

I'm building a blown 19' California Performance for a customer. He runs the lower river where you don't see many big boats, except for pontooners. It will be out of the mold in a couple of weeks. I'll post pics (most likely in Just Jets) throughout the project.

Great So Cal.......Look forward to seeing the pic. I have a 24' now for Lake Mead, but I'm interested in a 19' flat, simi V, play/gofast for Parker!

I think they should ban all boats over 24 feet from using the river.

The big boats do through off bigger wakes than smaller ones in general. However from what I've seen its the PWC's and wakeboard boats that's screwing up the water more than anything else... Especially those that fill their transom bladders and plow along at sub planing speeds

Face it, it takes just as long to produce a 21ft as it does a a 27'....The profit margin is higher on the 27 and as long as people shell out the $$ for them the builders will make them...
Most custom builders will make anything you want if you got the $$...Even Howard still has molds for their 19 foot semi vee with a jet or outboard or they can throw in a Teague motor from next door!..all you have to do is ask them... wink
