I think short posts are OK if they're funny. It seems to me that this site is supposed to be mostly about entertainment, with occasional enlightenment thrown in. I have enough serious crap to deal with at work. Here you can get serious answers to worthwhile questions, which makes it invaluable. But it can be goofy as hell too. (That makes it fun).
The stupid posts are like commercials or ads, If I don't like 'em, I don't read 'em.
Yes, I could do without all the !@#$%^&*() and the "1,2,3,4 I think you are big post *****" stuff, but some of those are pretty funny too.
For some people, maybe this is all there is.... :D :D

I'm glad to be at a reasonable number of posts....attentive, but not whorelike.
For the next two weeks and last two, I have to stay up till midnight to check my son's blood sugar level, (He's diabetic and only 9) and I can sneak in a few minutes of online time at work, so its easy to post a few JetBoatRichisms every now and then. :D :D

There's a difference between someone who is constantly answering questions and bringing interesting and pertinent information to light, and someone who is more concerned with garnering a boardwide session of cum ba ya (or whatever the song of the week happens to be).

I was merely pointing out the fact that there is a difference between the exchange of useful information, and the increasingly popular 3 word posts that have become prevelant as of late.
Striving to have the highest post count is just plain gay to begin with, but if you're going to go after it, at least base your attempt on something relevant to the core interest of the board members. If you were to look at posts by Superdave, I think you would find that at least 75% of them directly relate to performance boating. Look at HB's posts (though they are inflated due to perpetual conflict with Chet wink ) and I think you will find the same. RiverDave has a lot of posts that are boating related, but more of a focus on the politics surrounding our lifestyle rather than hardware and setup.
As for sense of humor, I'm not the one who got they're panties in a bunch over a response to the topic yuk And nowhere do I see anyone being jumped on over the ordeal; just a bunch of folks sharing their take on the topic. With the exception of Moderator control and guidance, the boards are what you make of them. If you want them to be the #1 spot on the web to talk about meaningless crap, go right ahead, it's your right to express yourself however you choose. Those that are orriented more towards the performance boating side of the boards will either leave, or ignore most of the off topic threads as we do now.
