OK, here's the situation. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 club cab, 5.9 V8, Sport package. I want to get out of this truck and into a diesel 3/4 ton. Here's the problem, since I put nothing down on this truck when I bought it, I am WAY upside down. I was thinking that if I were to raffle off my truck, selling only 300 tickets at $100 a piece, I could pay off my truck. Once "raffled" I could go out and buy a new truck, put some money down, and be happier, until I wanted another new truck. My questions are, would this be legal? Would anyone be interested?? Am I an idiot for even thinking this might, just might work???

What if you only sell 20 tickets?? Thats just it, I would have to make it 300, or nothing, just to make sure everyone knew the odds. If not, get all the money back to people if I did not get enough takers.

check in the back of magazines like "car & driver" I see ad's for exotic car raffles all the time. Im sure there are law's and rules, but if they can do it, why can't you?

I doubt if it would be legal, most states only allow raffles if they are conducted by a nonprofit organization for charity. It is after all a form of gambling.

Yep,
Gambling for sure. Ok as long as you don't get caught.

Probably only legal if some "cause" benefits from it. Sell 300 tickets at $100 apiece and only one winner? I see the possibility of 299 pissed-off people! Havasu's Chamber of Commerce raffles a Harley each year and it's funny how people forget that they can lose when they've spent a lot on the opportunity to gamble!

The cause or benefit could be "The Get a new truck for bigerich" :D

Call bullshit all you want. I was seriously thinking about doing it, if you aren't interested, don't get a ticket, if I decide to do it that is. You can call me a bullshitter, or liar, whatever.......
