when i was a kid back in the mid 70s, my father for the time had a fast boat. a 16 foot tunnel with a merc twister. we run on a smaller lake, but still as a young kid i thought we where flying, about 70mph. one time we hit some thing in the middle of the lake and instead of slowing down he told me and my brother if the bottom blows out jump out! i was 7! now with 4 kids of my own i run a 26 daytona same lake when things are right i will get on it a little with them up to about 80. i feel pretty safe unlike my father i wouldnt do it in a 16 foot boat. how fast do you run wiyh your kids?

Depends on the situation. But she's as bad as me when it comes to full throttle. As a kid (shes 15) she always loved to go fast and was never scared.

Depends on the conditions around me....if on the lake and it is open and calm...80+....if at the river and the water packed or chopped, 70 and under...maybe over 70 for a short burst when water opens up...We have no kids, but tend to drive other's around a lot.

I take the 5-year old no more than about 65mph or so. That is in a 19' Tunnel. She keeps wanting to go faster though. :D :D :D

As fast as the boat goes to get to smoother water.
When my daughter compains I tell her I'm going slow it's just rough water.

My boat's a 19ft pad bottom, closed bow, simi-v and my son is 9. The fastest he has driven it is between 40-45. It did not seem at all fast but I made him shut it down to the 35 mph limit on the lake we were on. The fastest I have ever driven with him is 63 mph. I think I'll limit it to around 65 with him on board. As he gets older and if I can afford helmets and lifeline vests I'll go faster if I can. Right now I don't have to worry, as my boat is currently only running the dinged up 14 1/2 by 21 aluminum prop that it had when I got it, so it only does around 55 (it's only got a XP 150 V6 OB). When I get it dialed in with the right stainless 65 or so is about all I'm hoping for anyway. Unless I ever get beat by a PWC. If that happens I'm emptying as many accounts as I have to in order to get a 200+.

This Fast -- Video Link-- (http://members.cox.net/shotglass/face.mpg)
Only hold it wide open a second or two. It gets way over 100 very quick.
If he knew that he did not ride in it as fast as it can go, he would be very dissapointed. wink

RD Ditto Me too!!!
My 3 1/2yo son, Jon, is currently a little turned off by speed. We were out in my Dad's boat, in the ocean, and he was sleeping in the v-birth. Dad launched off some swells and I guess Jon got bounced around pretty good. Now he always says when we get on a boat, "dont go fast, and NO bouncing". We just tell him it will be fine and go as fast as we want.
