When I have to I use my 96 Grand Cherokee, 4.5" lift 32.5 mudders, stock motor. Only when I go somewhere other than Havasu cause I keep the boat there.
It tows great actually!

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with th 5.2 motor and AWD. I pull a boat and trailer load of 4000 lbs with no problem. I did add some Air-Lift air bags ($50.00) to the rear coil springs, took about an hour to add them, no work at all, no tooks needed either except for a cutters for the tie wraps. What a difference!!!!! With 30 lbs of air pressure, it gives you a level ride, and feels nice and sturdy towing, completely different truck, it was such a soft ride before, now it's perfect. It always had the power and comfort, now it tows even better, I can't say enough good things about the air bag additions... I'm happy with the truck for towing.

Another 1998 Grand Cherokee LTD AWD 5.2L [ 318 cu]here [Hermosa ,is yours white too wink ? ].No issues at all towing a 24 spectra V-drive uphill .Boat= 4000+ , trailer =1650lbs. Bags are a must since the GC has coil spring susp  . I had to put bags in my 66 caddy CoupDeVille for the same reason.
