Going up 8 West from Ocotillo back to San Diego. Overloaded like a mother f*cker....... But the old beast did it. Temps barely even rose over where it normally runs.
Of course I got passed by every diesel powered truck out there. Those guys haul ass up that steep grade. Once on top I can keep up, but climbing...forget it. Its got Bilstein shocks and airbags to level out the load. They helped a lot. Custom hitch extension, from the local welding shop. The stinger is about 36" out beyond the back bumper. We put 2" x 3/8" steel crossbars on it for stability.
This is a 1997 with the big 460. Now over 118,000 trouble free miles. The "check engine" light has been on for about 25,000 miles. I guess I should get that checked. I have had three flats over the years, and locked myself out once.

Muffler bearing's?!? No one has used those for years. Last I know was back around 92-93. Everything is bronze bushed now. longer lasting in the heat, ya know.;)
