its possible, but I would have to see it to believe it. Heavy car and without running it on race gas you don't have the compression to make the power you need to do 9's. I am not saying it is not possible, but I would not buy the car with the intention of racing it and pulling 9's

He ran 6.271 in the 8th! This guy s so full of shit that it really isn`t funny. That`s from an 8th mile track! On the timeslips from them they give you an estimated 1/4 mile time and speed. And they are always grossly exaggerated. I give the car low to mid 12`s with cheater slicks. Thats a heavy vehicle. I had a `69 Chevelle. He is just not getting the traction for those #`s. Clean ride though. I`d say from the sound of it the motor has the capabilities. Give him 10g and take it to the tub shop. You`ll instantly be closer to 9`s.

I agree. Not without the bottle at least. Car probably weighs around 3600-3700 realistically and without a cage for safety and stiffness and some 14 x 32's or such under the back to support a 572 and loose converter, you would have to gingerly "walk it out of the hole" before punching it.......so add 2-3 seconds to that claimed 9 sec time.
Ran NHRA Super Stock with Novas and Chevelles in the 70's and understand what it takes to move these shoeboxes around.
He seems to be very optimistic....and ballsy...no cage

Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield is a 1/4 mile track not 1/8. That doesn't meen the time slip is for this car!
It is possible but hard to think it could hook up without tubs/slicks and with that weight with 4.10 gears. I had a 70 Dart with a very built 440, 727 clutchflite, Dana 60, 4.56, completely stripped with glass hood and trunk lid, half-tubbed (moved leaf spring hangers to inside sub frame rail, cut fender lip, fab'd inner wheel wells)with 12" slicks and ran 10.25's @ 125. It had to be a lot lighter wiht way more rubber.

oops, looked at the ad again. 12-bolt, 4.56 gears - if it ever
did hook up, unless it's a spool, that stuff will be taking the gas tank with it when they exit the car. I'm not trashing the moroso brute strength rear end, but it ain't going to take the approx. 600 hp that will be needed to put that box in the 9's.
Also, look at the headers (from the engine photo)....kind of small for a 572!???
To each's own.

Tell ya what we go to almost all the the psca races i have alot of friends that run in this division and are going alot faster than that 9.80 with stock suspension 10.5 tire cars, how about 8.670 @ 160.59 on 10.5 dot street tire or 7.994 @ 175.18 on mickey 10.5 slicks i think you guys would be very suprised if you ever went to one of these events and not so quick to judge a very fast street car and im sure the owner of this car would be more than happy to prove it to you just my 2 cents. Anybody seen the turbo stang that runs 8.20's on radial BFG 10.5 tires? That is freakin fast.

If that car ran in the 9's it was a one time fluke. I can see this car running in the mid to low 10'2 consistantly. Nice ride though:D

That is a nice car. I sure would like some proof that car will do what he says it will. I find it hard to believe. The cam is pretty mild for that size engine. 290/613 and its a solid. I also think if it did run that # it was a one time deal because the track would tell him not to come back until it has a cage. Anything under 11.0 at my track has a mandatory cage rule.

That piece couldnt turn 9 inches let alone 9 seconds,

It's possible it runs 9s, there's a large bump in the hood, and that's got to mean something. :p
