Absolutely, I have never seen one before. I have seent he P2V Neptune in both piston and turboprop, The C2 Greyhound in both too, but not a conversion on a plane like this. It looks like a graft.

Did someone say Neptune ?

I used to have to listen to those things taking off from Los Alamitos NAS in the 60s and 70s because my parents lived in Rossmoor. I used to see the piston/jet version and the turbo prop conversion taking off all the time, along with the F4s, A4s and all of the other Navy combat aircraft of the era.
Looks like they removed the MAD tailbooms from those ones in the pics...
BTW, are those Hawkings and Powers planes??

Yep Rich, guess the upgrade did something to give him an avatar he did not select. I will try to talk him thru fixing it.

Yeah, I was being kind...the UPGRADE that was supposed to make it faster...better etc. Seems to have had the opposite effect...but then it is still free!

Dr Eagle,
Those DC-3 turbine conversions are real. I've seen a number of them. Nothing like the sound of a radial, or flying behind one though. I think it's like having a 7 or 9 cylinder harley barking in front of you.
BTW folks, they are turbines not turbos, even though they call them turboprops. Just a turbine with a reduction gearbox. Felt I needed to clarify the nomenclature.

If you are referring to my post above, I guess I shouldn't have put the space between the turbo and the prop. I know what the nomenclature is...no need to clarify.
I know how the technology works as well....sorry, Just getting carried away with the s p a c e b a r......

Hey JBB-
You don't really want a bigger boat do you? I think Mrs. JBB would be much happier in this:

If you stop over, I'll bring the drinks on the way out to Havasu.

Well....Im not so sure ....see I been around the Avation game for a while ....and I have always heard them referred to as turboprops....It seems a few of the industry folks refer to them that way also..... :D
Turboprop....? (http://www.aerospace-technology.com/projects/turbopropaircraft_gallery.html)
