My dad lives in San Bernardino and says the fire was about 500 yards from his apartment complex. So, he's coming down to stay a while with me and the family in Anaheim.

It is like winter here in the 909...Smells like there is a fire real close by. Practically need to wear a mask to mow the lawn.:frown:

It's snowing!
Wait...that's ash. The wind is blowing my patio furniture all over the place....no sun at all, just smoke.
Who knew the 909 had anything worth burning...

I'm on the far west end of town (Tierra Rejada & Madera) next to Moorpark. For those watching local news, near the Reagon Library where the fire jumped the 118 freeway & Tierra Rejada.

Had a little scare about 3 hours ago. My house has alot of hill's around it covered in dead brush. The hill right in front my house, the backside caught fire. Luckily the winds had died down and fire dept. responded very quickly. They extinguished it quickly. I've been real worried about these hill's around me ever since the fire's broke out.

I am ready to roll and help any of you out, call me home and no problem. Have a truck and trailer if you need it. No work the next few days, so just let us know what we can do.

It is so great to get offers of help from board members. It is nice to know that you all will help when others are in a jamb (not that I had any doubts).
I think I'm okay now but scary last night. I did start to gather up important stuff and try to figure out which vehicles had insurance and which didn't that I would have to try to take with me.

If anyone needs a place to stay for now, let me know. My renter moved and my apartment is vacant. (no trailer jokes! It is a real apartment attatched to my house. Yes, house.) Seriously, I am going to rent it out again but if any of you are evacuating and need a place to stay, I have one.

Thanks for all the kind offers. I think we are in a dire situation. We have been out/evacuated for 2 days. The power has been out since Saturday. The fire is currently within 1 mile or 2 of my house, based on what I have heard rumors of. We are trying to get some more detailed info but its hard out here in AZ (I am staying with relatives in Kingman). I have not slept much in the past 72 hours so I may be rambling, but just wanted to say thanks for the offers to help.

The state OES just made another request of local FDs up here. Another batch of equipment and people heading down there from Sacramento Metro Fire, Elk Grove, Folsom, Stockton, Isleton and other cities. They are coming in from all over Cali, Oregon, Nevada and AZ but the size of this fire front is unprecedented. I hope they can catch a break and control them.

posted this on the other thread but more help is coming from Nevada.
California’s Governor called Governor Guinn yesterday to request Nevada’s support in containing their wild-fires. The Nevada National Guard responded to the request; On 27 October, we sent one air-guard structure fire truck and 4 airmen with a strike team out of Reno to Southern California. On 28 October, we sent three CH-47 helicopters with 2000 gallon water buckets and twenty-two army and one air men to Southern California. The CH-47s crews were supported by a Nevada Air National Guard C-130 with five air men. The Army CH-47s will be operating out of Los Alamitos Reserve Center and will most likely be on the Cedar Fire. We are still waiting for information on were the air guard structure truck will operate from.
