I love my dogs but this is getting out of hand.

Sorry, I just needed to vent that out. I feel better now. Well ,kinda sotta I do.
But I do have two really great dogs. But they are ugly as hell with their fur shaved off. lol

My friend took his dog to the park a number of years ago.
It jumped out of the truck, chased a squirrel, the squirrel turned a bit harder than the dog. The dog broke it's leg bad.
1,500.00 later for the pins in the leg and his wife left him because of it.

LOL Tom.
Thought I would throw that in if someone need to use it. ;)
Do not think I could get that attached to any critter. They might have to die from lead poisioning.
Cannot count how many of the kid's critters "escaped" when their welcome was over stayed.

TheLurker kinda likes em with the fur shaved off:0 Oh geez you were talking about the dog.
I had a catarack removed from one of my dogs eyes years back. That was one hell of a vet bill but well worth it.

My last one was 1,550 and she would have left me if I didn't pay it. lol
They wanted over 3K from some specialist just to do it but our Vet knows how much we've spent lately. He had some other guy come into his place and do it as a side job kinda thing. He did do a kick ass job and I only paid him. My vet, his techs and the 3 days of boarding was a no charge. That was pretty cool of him.

Sounds like you know the pain then.
One of our dogs I've spent so much on through out the years she's like the six million dollar dog.

That's because you have kids. I don't and these are my kids I guess. They have done way more good they you can imagin.
Saved my car from getting broken into, someone tried to get in my house one time. Front door flung open so fast that I would have never got to my gun. 2 90+ pound dogs turned who ever that was around real quick. A guy was peeking over my wall in the back yard once and he just about got his chin bit off. I could keep going but you get the picture.
I mean, how can you put a price on that kind of stuff?

Oh hell, I spent that much just to get my guy home, then add that much again for all the shit I had to have.
Trade the fur in for feathers and watch the prices jump.

I was feeling crummy and finally went to the doctor and took the rest of the day off then decided I might as well take the cat in for his shots that were due, I was laughing at myself in the parking lot afterward because his bill was more than mine and I had a PSA test and two shots, but for some they are worth it,

Sounds like a good deal to me. SuperDave
Just fortunate that kind of thing does not happen to us.
We have a Golden Retriever. He barks enough and digs like a high dollar back hoe. ;)

A friend of mine had just started seeing this girl. He backs out of the driveway and discovers he just backed over her "Daschund" puppy. It was flat in the driveway but still breathing.
So they rushed it to Cornell for some ER attention. It was up there for a week. They had to take the dog apart and then put it back together again.
The bill was $2500....... I would have taken the guy from the hospital and ran him over.....;)

2,500 for a week in the ER is pretty cheep. What do you think it would cost to have your child or wife in ther that long?

i am glad to hear that you were able to get that work done like you guys were just talking about at oktoberfest. hope every thing goses well. i have had many dogs amny times the vet bill has gotten very expensive. we had a golden reteriver a couple of years ago and she started to get liquid in her lungs so she coldnt breath. in the middle of the night my dad took her to the vet and they drained her lungs and kept her there over the rest of the night and the next day , when we picked her up she seemed like she was getting better , that night my dad woke up to the whining noise and she was laying on the ground whimpering and then just died, i loved that dog so much it hurt to see her pass and then to have to carry her to the vet to pay them to cremate her , after we had just payed them to telll us nothing but extend her life for two days... well you can guess we were pretty pissed about that.:(

Hey Dave. I also know your pain. Our Husky got genetic cateracts at less than a year old. By the time he was about 1.5 years old, he could only see about 10%. We bit the bullet and did cataract surgery. I think it was close to $3K.
Then when he was about 6.5, he developed Glacoma and went totally blind. Another $2.5K bill.....
But he is the best dog I've ever been around. Even the blindness didn't slow him down a bit. Unless you move the couch or leave shoes in the middle of the floor! LOL!:D

i just adopted another dog saturday. wasnt planning on it but...
my sister and i went into petsmart to get doggie food and i was pushing the cart down the aisle talking to my sister and looked back because she didnt answer me and saw that she wasnt even there!! (how embarrassing). found her in the front petting some dogs that the noah's ark folks (adoption agency) had there. i sat down and this little guy just climbed up into my lap and wouldnt budge. well, that was it. called hubby and warned him, and took the little guy home. 5 mos. old some sort of german shepard mix. he is good playmate for our other dog, buster who is 1 1/2. they all have different personalities. dont know how this one is yet, he mostlly plays alittle, sleeps alot.

We also have a German Sheppard mix (1/2 with a husky) we got from pet adoption. Its by far the smartest dog I've ever seen. He opens doors in our house by turning door knobs with his mouth. Never showed him how to do that either. He just silently watches us and learns new things all the time.
Your gonna love the new pooch.....:D

You can become attached ...If one of our shelties became sick or injured...I would not care what the cost for good health care would be!

Me and the Mr. thought it would be nice to get a little friend for our dog Makai, a rat terrier, so we adopted Gracie, a cattle/Australian Shepperd kind of dog last week. I took them running on sunday morning and an unleashed neighborhood dog charged at my dogs. Gracie started kickin' the other dogs ass and Makai got stuck in the middle. Gracie malled Makai, almost killed her. Took Makai to the emergency room and 1 surgery, 15 stitches, 2 tubes hanging out of her head and neck and $700 later, she is home recovering. I just look at her and cry, she looks so pitiful. Luckily though, she is going to be ok. It is absolutely heart breaking when you pet gets hurt.
We failed miserably at our attempt to keep Makai company while we are at work. :frown:

Thanks Dave and Jen ! She'll be ok. I was just looking at doggies up for adoption at local shelters. Gracie is such a bitchen dog, super smart, good watch dog but just too much for Makai. Luckily my best friend took her so we wouldn't have to take her to a shelter. I know she didn't mean to hurt Makai but we can't risk Makai's well being, Jason has had her for +7 years and we only had Gracie for 4 days. Once Makai is all recovered, we are going to try adopting a little terrier like her who is older, lazy and snuggly! :D
xoxo
Linda
BTW, your doggies are beautiful!!
