At an unveiling party for the families that built the ship a gangway collapses and 13 people died.
Is this a bad omen for the ship or what......

The most horrifying event of this accident is that they were all school-kids on a tour. The gangplank that collapsed was 15 meters tall, or approximately 45 feet. Jesus, what a tragedy.

I read the story this morning and it sounded like they were jammed on the gang plank. Maybe over loaded the thing, seems like another senseless tragedy. Your heart has to go out to the familes

Ummm I heard that they were families of the workers building and working on the ship.
The only solace is that they're frenchies

Do you remember what all happened to Queen Mary 1 during the retrofit for Longbeach.
1- They took so much structure out of it, it almost fell apart.
2- After they put it in the mooring place they relized they had not dredged out enough, and when it would be loaded with people it would sit on it's keel and fall sideways.
3- Didn't the Navy Admiral, that was in charge commit suicide.
4- I think the cost overrun was 4 time's the original estimate.
Is there anything I missed, or any of these not true.

I think what you are referring to (I may be way off cuz I wasn't all that old when they did that project) was the smoke stacks. They started sandblasting them and they were so corroded that they almost collapsed and they had to remove and rebuild them...as I remember it anyway...

Hey titties and beer, the "goose something?" Tsk, tsk. Tha was the infamous Howard Hughes plane, the Spruce Goose, so named because it was made of spruce. He flew it one time, it could only skim the water, he mothballed it soon after, Wonder where it is now?, Seattle, or something I think. Really not sure.
