Because he's cheap. How much do ya think an old 707 (or 720) goes for??? A million, maybe 1.5???
Besides, there's few things in this world cooler than 4 Pratts at full song belching smoke and burning a tanker truck full of dead dino juice a minute. :D

You can buy a retired F-100 from AA for a mil or less. Retired only to go to less fleet types.
Has steel gear and upgraded 911 cockpit door also.

I thought that a 707 was, in comparison to many airliners, quite a hotrod?

That would be a nice little Fokker to have. :D

Not that they are worn out but we are trying to get to fewer fleet types.
Less parts and equipment to spread all over the country.

Well I guess some have jumbo jets - Some have a yacht and toys - some have mansions on the lake or river with millon dollar skatters or outerlimits on the hoists. Just takes much O $$$$$$. I can only imagine what it would be like.

Didn' t AA just take delivery of their last Fokker like 5 or 10 years ago. They are retiring them already??? Must be too small or something. Sheesh some of the 737s around are older than most grad students...

Ok --- I am pretty sure none of you are in the market so:
AA has the largest fleet of F-100's out there. Fokker is out of business so spare parts are not all readily available.
The outstanding engineering and manufacturing resources of AA (Tulsa Oklahoma) keep them in the air.
It is the natural good business choice of which fleet to slim down or eliminate.
They are a good deal regardless. Buy several and 1 is spare parts.

I wanna know what kind of pad and toys he would have if he was a boat guy? That mansion he built is off the hook!
