That is a nice motor, and I love GM parts, but they charge so much for there completed engines. A better engine could be built for less. If someone wanted to finish that engine right, you would be looking at a rough estimate of Engine cost+:
Complete EFI(inc distributor, ECU, ect...) $4000.00
Fuel pump, hoses, ect........................... $550.00
Exhaust with tails(cmi, powerflow plus.) $2500.00
Accessories( brackets, pumps, bolts.....) $2000.00
Oil Pan, oil cooler, ps cooler, lines $1500.00
Bellhousing,coupler $550.00
Motor mounts $300.00
Crossover, h20 hoses, clamps $250.00
misc sending units, silicone, sealer, ect......$200.00
Total $11850.00 (No labor)
Now all you would need is to change that cam to a "marine" application:($300.00) and someone to map your computer:$500.00(roughly)
New total $12650.00 Not including taxes, shipping charges, labor, phone bills, gasoline expenses, ect............................................... ...........................
Now everyone knows you could lower the price significantly by putting a carburator on this motor. But the future is EFI, and that would make this motor worth all of that $$$ you are investing. This list applies ONLY to stern drives. Jets and v-drives could build this motor for a hell of a lot less IMO. It is unbelievable how much this stuff adds up to when you break it all down. This is a "ROUGH" estimate, because everyone has a friend that can get them a deal. Hopefully, This list might help as a guide for someone that was thinking about building there own performance powerplant:D Good Luck.

All you need to do after buying that engine is take it over to Westec Dyno and they will extract 800 HP by bolting it into their dyno!!!!:D

still this is cheaper than buying a 28k plus custom engine.around 23k is not bad to have a 620hp engine.

I totally agree. $28K for 620HP would be outragous.
