USC to be toppled by OSU in the BCS this week. Is it just me, or is this the worst system ever? Why is the word "playoff" so hard for the NCAA to understand?
Strength of schedule and one NY poll that has USC ranked fifth are the culprits. BCS has gotta go. It shouldn't be left up to a mathematical equation to figure out who plays for a national title.

Difficult to understand no playoffs, winners should move on not be judged and placed by a computer/votes.:D
USC played so well on both sides of the ball last week:eek: they deserve at this point to stay #2.

Two things to remember:
1 - USC has an easy schedule. Normally the PAC-10 is decent, but they suck this year compared to the SEC and Big-10.
2 - OSU is due the right the defend they championship. Although they are not as good as USC, they are still the defending champs and they deserve the right to defend it.
I agree that the BCS is screwed up. A playoff system would be bigger than march madness.

Based on your rational of including the previous champion in the Big Game, why dont you just put the Tampa Bay Bucs into the Super Bowl even though they are currently 4-5. It doesnt make sense. That Buckeyes should not hold that spot. I even question if Oklahoma should be ranked number 1 because of all the 2-bit teams that they play. How many Texas A&M's and Baylors can they play. It looks like they have a full schedule of them.
Maybe we'll get lucky and Michigan will kick the SH*(T our of the BrownEyes ..

Ohio State can barely beat their competition. Purdue was ranked ...i'll give the Buckeyes that! But who stmps their ranked opponents with greater force..USC over ranked Wash. St or Ohio St. barely in over time over Purdue?
Margin of victory is not a criteria in the BSC computers and that is bullshit! In the last 5 games the USC TROJANS have beat their competition by an average of 35 points per game! In the top 10 this fact is bested only by the Ok Sooners! Give me a break! Next week they will beat fucla probably as bad as they just beat the AZ Wilcats. And on December 6 they will probably beat Oregan State by 21 points I bet.
So back to the BCS...I love USC but I am intellectually honest. This situation we find our selves in fellow Trojans is our own FAULT! WE LOST TO CAL DAMN IT! SO NOW WE HAVE OUR CHAMPIONSHIP HOPES IN THE HANDS OF SOME FING POINDEXTER computer geek and that is a shame. I agree with
Pete Carroll we need to stomp the shit out of fucla and the Beavers and the BCS we hope will take care of itself ....and us!
Oh well.

That is the problem. The PAC-10 is pathetic compared to the big-10. That is the reason why OSU is ranked higher in the BCS. Simple. Play someone tough besides WASU in the PAC-10 then talk, until then beating UCLA and OR St is not an accomplishment.

Thor you are so wrong...if that was the case then why didnt USC play in the BCS chanpionship game last year? Last year USC beat more ranked teams than any other team in the top 5 and by greater margins. The BCS computer model is so screwed up. Why is it the most learned men in college football have the Trojans all most unaminously number two? The coaches poll more accurately portrays reality and the Trojans are hands down number 2.
And if the freaking BSc model is so accurate and the Trojans haven't accomplished any thing how come the Las Veags odds makers have of all the possible scenarios for an opponent for the Ok sooners at the Sugar Bowl, the best and most closest odds with a Sooner and Trojan game?
And if strength of schedule is so important then how come Michigan who is favored by 12 as of right now to beat the Buckeyes...got the shit beat out of them by Oregon?
HOW THE PHUK CAN THE NUMBER 2 TEAM BE AN UNDERDOG TO ANYBODY OTHER THAN THE NUMBER 1 TEAM?????????? MICHIGAN IS FREAKING FAVORED TO BEAT THEM! WHAT A F'ING JOKE!
Explain that to me! Or did that win of Oregons not mean anything? Don't let your SC hatred feelings make you intellectually DISHONEST. I admitted in my earlier post honestly ..it's our fault we lost to Cal...now you admitt next to OK we are playing the most impressive football in the country! If your man enough to give credit where credit is due I would respect your opinion more. The PAC 10 is tough enough just ask the Wolverrines how they got their asses kicked by a team that hasn't even won't even go to a bowl game...the Ducks f'd them up!
We butt humped on National TV in their own crib Auburn the first game and ruined their season. And if we could play Ohio State for the right play Ok we would win that game by 35 points. But since there isn't a playoff system we will have to just live with the screwed up BCS.
What is really screwed up is now they are talking as if Ohio State loses to the Wolverines...look out Trojans there is LSU to worry about. What the phuck! If that was the case then why aren't the Tigers rated over Ohio State right now?!?!Do you realise that USC's margin of victory just last week in one game excedes OHIO States margin of victory over their last 6 f'ing opponents!
The BCS sucks the most accurate measure of whos the best is still the coaches poll. And any body with half a brain has OK number 1 and USC 2. Phuck the Buckeyes and go Wolverines please make my point..Ohio state couldn't even carry our jock straps!

THOR
11-17-2003, 06:16 PM
It doesnt matter how many useless/has been stats you spout off, the PAC 10 is weak.
BTW, point spreads are done by real power ratings by gaming officials. Trust me, my old roommate makes the lines at several Vegas casinos. Point spreads have nothing to do with who is ranked where.
Ohio state deserves the right to defend the championship, simple. Dont tell me how much USC should have been there in the end last year, THEY WERENT there. No question. Ohio state was undefeated and they have earned the right. Just stick to being an arm chair QB. :D

I think if you were to ask anyone else on this board who has been here for a while, I don't rag on anyone and don't get involved in the pissing contests that usually occur here. I was just taken aback and you, bascially, calling me out when all I was trying to say was it was a little much for a game. That's all, nothing more and probably even a little bit less.

It is more than a game to the alumni and fans of the two schools, and to the Pac-10 Conference. Playing in the championship game would mean increased revenue to the conference, and could only help USC's recruiting efforts in the coming years. My complaint is that if you review the performances of Ohio State and USC on Saturday, it seems an abuse of the power conferred on the BCS by the conferences to rank Ohio State ahead of USC. Just my $.02.

i agree the bcs sucks, but to question ou being #1 is crazy. they have shut down every offense even the good ones, and scored huge numbers on every good defense. i know it isnt over yet but if they keep their heads on stright they should be going to the sugar bowl and we'll see then who is national champions. usually the season plays out to where we have the top 2 teams play each other, sometimes it is arguable between #2 and #3 but it is as close as we come without playoffs. i say befroe it is over a couple more will fall so we can have it down to the top 2. if not we have #3 pissed off but that is fuel for the fire next year.

Kirk Herbstreet.............college game day co-host said flat out that SC is the second best team in the country. He went so far as to say they are the best all around team in the country. They can play defense, offense and special teams.
He also stated the reality is that if OSU beats Michigan, SC will have an uphill battle and will be on the outside looking in.
The bottom line is that the BCS system is a crock of Sh*t. It works about as well as a '78 Pinto running on 3 cylinders. ;) Until a playoff is implemented, there will ALWAYS be controversy surrounding the BCS. Unfortunately, to dump the BCS now would be to admit complete and total failure by the NCAA in their effort to match up the real #1 and #2.
I tell the NCAA to put their ego aside and do whats best for college football and their fans. Clearly, a playoff system in which each game could be considered a bowl, would be best. Until then, someone will always get shunned by the BCS.
This year it will be SC and TCU or just TCU if Michigan beats OSU.
One thing is for sure. I am a huge Michigan fan this week.
GO WOLVERINES. :)

Thor I just read your last post and now I can say you are being intellectually honest by admitting USC is the 2nd best team in the country. That is all I was saying. Lets all be honest. OK as I have said many times well deserves the right to be number one 1! Equally so the Trojans derserve to be number two. All I am saying I would trust the combined wisdom of the coaches poll before the BCS computer.
The facts I mentioned earlier in this thread although you say don't matter are precisely why all the coaches in this country pick USC number two thats all I'm saying. And what you did last year doesn't give you the right to play in the BCS game this year! It doesn't work that way in any sport but boxing!
This is a new year and clearly if you are really honest OK and USC are the 2 best teams playing right now!

The BCS is total BS they might as well use a wedgie (sp?) board or ask the magic 8 ball.
It also dosen't help that the pac 10 is always underrated. If you look at the total # of national champs (in sports where there are playoffs and real national titles) the PAC 10 produces you will see that no other conf is even close to them. :p It is no coincidence that the sport the PAC 10 is supposedly "weak" in is the one sport that never has a playoffs or a real national championship.
