I thought this was somewhat profound. It's from Linus' Q & A session on the Linux Lunacy cruise to Alaska. Boy... I'll bet that was a wild party! :D
With regard to the software patent issue:
"The subject gets so polarized that people talking to each other aren't really talking to each other. They're really at opposite ends and throwing stones at each other, instead of even trying to see if there is a middle ground. Which means that the discussion itself is not worthwhile. "
