Has anyone had any problems parking at Harrah's in Laughlin ?? I picked up my boat from storage 2 weeks ago and stayed at Harrah's. Overnight, someone (probably a local BHC crackhead) got in my boat and took the stereo deck, woofers, tore up the fiberglass taking the shit out, and took everything in the glove compartment (about 3g worth total) . Harrah's said their cameras aren't that good on the parking structure so they wouldn't be able to see anything AND they said there are signs everywhere saying they aren't responsible for loss anyway. I took pics of the entire upper parking level, there are NO cameras for that area...and there are NO signs relieving Harrah's of liablity. I wrote a letter to the CEO and a few other top guys at Harrah's basically saying I felt that they were responsible for my loss because they did not provide a safe environment for their guests, and didn't provide adequate security for their parking areas. Well, I just got a response back from them saying that after an extensive investigation, they were not at fault and denied my claim. Even though I spend lots of cash there and have been a Diamond Member for a few years now..what assholes ! So...should I get an attorney, file a small claims lawsuit, or just go start another shootout in their lobby? :D Any ideas ?

That's a shitty deal. It seems a few other peeps on the boards have had similar experiences. Hopefully they can help you out. In the meantime...use it as an excuse to go out and get a bigger badder system!:(

I have a friend that had the same problem there. All the goodies taken out of his Hallett. He now stays at the Edgewater.

In my opinion I would at least talk to an attorney and see what they have to say, and tell them about you previous dealings...ie letters and complaints. It won't hurt. Keep up posted with what you do, it might help someone else that has had a similar problem.

Isn't this what insurance is for? Should any parking lot be liable for the damage that may be caused to anyone's vehicle while parked there? If my car was broken in to while it was parked on private property(let's say a friend's house), I wouldn't expect my the person(or company)to replace whatever was stolen unless they guaranteed the security of my property, broken into while in their care, or it was stolen by an employee....
If you believe they're responsible for your stuff, take them to small claims..
Not trying to be a chump or trivialize your loss. I just think ya had a bad day. Been there done that...

I think you are just going to have to bite the bullet on this one. I would send a letter to them and inform them that because of their lack of security, the money that you would normally spend there is now going to replace your stolen items and that you may come back in a couple of years if they improve their security system.

I hate leaving my shit unattended. I do believe they should have better security for the boats, considering the boating community is the majority of their customer base. However I can't really justify a lawsuit. Just my .02. Sorry your stuff got jacked.

You will have a tough go fo it to get them to pay. My wife had a friend that took their car to Valet parking here in Reno at one of the casinos. As it was sitting there in the drop off someone came and hopped in it and took the car. All of this was on camera and they never got the car back and the casino was found not responsible and just said sorry and carried on. :o

The same thing happened to us at the Riverside. They were assholes. My attorney told me that because the casino had cameras and security ptrolling the lot the casino implied responsiblity for the cars and boats in their lot. we just let it go swithed out future vacations to the flamingo Hilton and never went back. Harrahs won't pay you ...just tough it out call you insurance agent and find a new place to stay.
Sorry for your loss, I hate theives!

Sorry to hear about your stuff. I think you are probably S.O.L. on it just best to go through your insurance. I have stayed at harrahs and never had any problems but I have always stayed across the street in the "secured" parking lot.

I had a jetski stolen from harrahs parking lot. It was insured.

Most parking garages have disclaimers on the ticket that they give you when you park. They all state that they are not liable for theft, damage or loss. Like others have said, this is why you have insurance.

File a claim on your insurance. if the Hotel is at fault your insurance company will get it from them.
Sounds like someone needs to show off their stereo in that parking lot one night. Everone else sleep in the room and someone stay in the boat with a gun.
Take care of that problem for good.

Very sorry your stuff got stolen...
But, I do agree with ROZ. Info had a pretty darn good idea as well, although unfortunately law enforcement might see it differently. It's really too bad we can't just shoot thieves on the spot! :D

Sorry about your loss. That sucks. ****in thieves.
I don't think the hotel is really responsible. I'd just turn it into your insurance. Just my .02.

20 years ago our car was parked at Sam's Town (now the River Palms?) and I foolishly left my make-up bag on the back seat. (sort of looked like a purse). Needless to say, when we came back the rear passenger window was smashed out and the bag was gone. :(
A few weeks later the police call me and say they found some of my prescription medicine bottles along with other bits of make up etc, stewn across the rocks on the bank of the river by Davis Dam. They told me there are lots of homeless that live along the river , and that's who did most of the vehicle break-ins at the casino.
That was back then -- Today it may be a different group doing it but I do think it happens quite a bit.

All I know is that I'm shocked you guys leave your boats sitting in hotel parking lots at night.
You are just asking to get your shit stolen. You are lucky they didn't take the entier boat.
I stayed at the blue water once. I could not sleep thinking about my truck and boat sitting out there. Ended up going out and sleeping in my truck.
Sorry to hear about the loss. But you know the sayin, "if ya like it ya better lock it".

I agree, I'm probably SOL. I did file a claim with my boat insurance, WestMar...then I find out that since the stereo and woofers were mounted TO the boat, they are no longer personal items, and the deductible is around $1700..what kinda shit is that ?? They will give me replacement value, minus depreciation, for the items that were stolen from the glove compartment. The stereo and woofers were like $800, so I guess I'll have to eat that. Insurance is a f'n joke !!

Never had any problems when I stayed at Riverside, but I didn't leave anything inviting in there either. Always felt the boat was most secure at the Edgewater parking(behind outlet/theatre)..only downfall was having to take shuttle up there to get it.
NEVER felt good about Harrah's parking, too exposed.
Sorry to hear of your loss, its never a good feeling when you've been violated by those BHC tweakers.

that's one of the reasons 'i don't go to lauhlin i had my boat at the avi and some kids pulled the cover back and started to go thru it when i walked out there and caught them then i'm restraining them and yelling security. security comes out and takes them in and call the cops.when the cops get there they call me in and i almost went to jail for assault on the minors

Jeff Guy:
I quit on Harrahs a few summers ago. They obviously discourage patrons that are boaters and lake licers by their restrictive trailer parking areas. (the roof and far away at the street.) I've had good luck leaving my Hallett countless times since my Harrahs days at the Riverside but was dismayed to hear about someone else not being so lucky. If I can suggest something - when we are out in these casino parking lots if you see anyone that for whatever reason seems like they may not belong in the boat they are hanging around - question them - see if they get nervous etc. Let's try to help each other here if we can. Sometimes in the middle of the night, while the little women is passed out or losing her gambling addicted ass I wander out near the parking lot with a beer and just sit for a while. At the Riverside I've never seen anything suspicious and usually do see the guard cruising around. God I detest those BC, work is for suckers, tweekers. Trust me - if I see one of them in one of our boats - they are gonna be in for an unfortunate night. Buff

Not sure if it would help...but how about a proximity-sensor alarm?
I put one in my boat awhile back (like the ones in convertables). If someone moves around...it goes off. The siren near the vent is plenty loud. With the batteries locked off, there's no way to pop the hatch and pull wires quickly.
Scares the hell out of people (not too many people expect an alarm on a boat). Works for docks and beaches, too (on the water).
Just a thought.

It's after the fact, but the only reliable place to park a boat is the Edgewaters lot.
It has security, at the booth, driving and on a bike, and cameras. And they come up and talk to me everytime I go out to get something out of the boat.
Sorry about your loss.
We still carry our wakeboards in at night on the shuttle back to the room, and the head unit to our CD/radio, and cover the boat in addition.
Bull Head City is the per capita Meth abuse Capital of Arizona.
On top of that, some casino jobs are transitory and bring in their relatives of these workers that are the problem too from what the cops say on the "COPS" TV show.
If you don't get ripped off at Harrahas, your rig will get hit in the Harrahas parking lot.

That sucks. Sorry about the loss.
I stayed at the Ramada Express last summer, mostly due to their parking lot security.
I requested a room with a view of the parking lot. Should have seen the look on the reservationists face when I said "I'd like a clear view of the parking lot, please"
Anyhow, I took my boat's spot light upstairs with me and throughout the night I would "spot light" my boat. Our frieinds that went with us thought I was a little paranoid.
Honestly, about every time I looked out at my boat, whether it was 10PM or 3 AM, I saw a secrity guard walking the well lit parking lot.
I've heard lot's of horror stories with similar results at casinos in Laughlin. So far, haven't heard any about the Ramada Express or Edgewater
