I've seen some GPS's that have a display which will show max speed, does anyone know which models do this? I don't really care about the other features.

I have the same unit and can second the recommendation for this unit. It has the Max Speed feature, as well as many, many more.

The cheap Garmin eTrex has it, but if you go over 116 mph, get a better one. The eTrex can not read above 116. As least the 2 we have tried at the lake didn't go over 116.

I run the Garmin 176C. We love it! I found the best price at The GPS Store! (http://www.gps4fun.com)
Good luck!

So this unit does have max speed. I was looking at this one. The 116 max isn't a problem
All I'm really interested in is speed features.

I have the Garmin III+ as well and heartily recommend it but I don't think it is still available.
