I just got the call from the Dept of Water Resources for chance of flood. Yes I live in a flood plain. They expect it to rise to 111.5 elev and we start getting water at 112. Hopefully it quits raining or my driveway will look like this again.

Its not deep enough to run a v-drive but the thought of having an airboat would be cool. Just have to remember to stock up on food, beer and plenty of gas for the pumps.

Sometimes once a year, sometimes once every ten years. Just depends on how much rain we get and how much Lake Shasta releases.

Ain't there some way to send some of that down to us? Or at least divert it to Lake Mead. All kidding aside, our thoughts a prayers are with you guys.

now's the time to start putting the welders ontop of tables in the
shop, and put the plugs in the boat... better loosen up the bow-
strap too.......
Chico doesn't really "flood" but I've been out to river road when it
was REALLY moving, and alot of ground get's covered in water...

Obviously not enough, they still have too much and we haven't got enough. Whoa, sounds like a Democrat argument for more taxes don't it?

Is he over by Butte Creek?

You don't know how close I came to doing that. There is a large slough behind the house and when its flooded its about 15' deep. Next time it does flood I might just have to do that. Parents would probably shit but oh well.

We live down in San Mateo, but we have a cabin in Chester, and pass through Oroville everytime we go!
Do you ever boat at Lake Oroville? I hear their floating camp sites kick ass....

Kindsvater Flat
12-24-2003, 11:37 PM
Went to Oroville once and didn't make it very far out of Limesaddle marina before the sheriff kicked us off. (To loud) I have lots of friends that have places at Lake Almanor. Real nice area and anything by the water is major cash. I go on the sac river or once in awhile to the afterbay. I'm about 15min from hwy 99 and hwy 162 east of Oroville. About 5 minutes from Butte City.

Mrs. Restless22
12-24-2003, 11:39 PM
Are you buy 8 mile road? or Augus Frius?
We have a cabin right on the water in Lake Almanor West. Love it up there, anytime of the year its awesome.

No shit. If I had the jet still when I took that picture I wouldn't hesitate. But with the rudder and prop down there it would be taking a chance slowing down and hitting bottom.

Mrs. Restless22
12-24-2003, 11:43 PM
Weve probably driven past your house a few times.
My hubbys club is right on Augus Frias, before the big rice farm tanks, after Nelson Rd.
Sound familiar?

Yeah, and besides the chance of causing damage and the expense of same, once damaged...direct drive boats rarely are the same....:D

If you're talking the ones on the left heading to chico those belong to Johnson. I have hauled rice in there for charles schwab.
Hey Schwab's place is for sale. I think he wants close to 10 million for it. Its like 1600 acres and only half of it is farmable. The rest is in natural habitat. Last I talked to him he was limiting out in a half hour.

Not full of locals. Bar has a bad rap. Previous owner was great but the sheriff was so hard on them they sold it and moved to Colusa county. Brother inlaw owned back in the early 90's. Someone bought the old hotel in Butte City and they are fixing it up and gonna open the little restaurant back up sometime next year.

There is a ATT site just north of me thats been there for about 5-8 years now. Nextell sucks on the east side of the river. They cater to the I-5 corridor.

Kids go to school in Princeton. If you come in on Norman Rd from I-5 you pass the elementary school. The high school in on the south side of town. I graduated with a class of 9.

We built a site out there ( I Think it was off of butte city rd.) in about 1994 or 95. And it was AT&T. It was in the middle of a wet winter and we went to the site and it was under about 7 feet of water. The construction guys hadn't done their homework and had no idea of the prevailing flood levels out there. We fixed that really quick...

What do you do for work out there?

Kindsvater Flat
12-25-2003, 12:12 AM
I don't know. This site sits where a house used to be. Although the house would get water during real bad flood. Magically the house burned down during a foggy morning. It was ran down pretty bad.

I'm a mechanic for an irrigation district, part time farmer, volunteer fire chief. Currently looking for a new job. New boss is looking for a way to get me fired. He is getting really good at making up lies. We already had one put in 2 weeks notice and the others are also looking for work. The only thing is I'm tired of turning wrenches and would like something else. So I'm not sure what I want to do yet.

Madison Bear, Brick Works, The Grad..... Yep done them all. Went out with some younger friends on Labor Day and forgot what its like to come home at 4 am and leave for the river at 8. That was rough. Nothing like hitting the water already buzzed.

Do you take that flat to the sac river?
We gotta get our boat up to the river this year, that sounds like a blast!

Kindsvater Flat
12-25-2003, 12:24 AM
Thats mainly the only place we go. We go to either Knights Landing or Colusa. We also go to Berryessa once in awhile and Camp Far West. You don't see much over 21' on the river near Colusa. There are more snags there. Its alot safer Knight Landing and south. There are Knights landing pics on my schouten ranch website in my signature. I had lots of colusa trip pictures but the server blew and none of them were backed up.

Mrs. Restless22
12-25-2003, 12:27 AM
We spent our entire summer at Berryessa, wonder if we ever saw you????
And we were also at the last Hot Boat Event at CFW, were you at that one?
We were the group of Eliminators sitting on the opposite side of 1/4 mile cove all day, enjoying the scene!

I was there on Father's Day. There are a bunch of pics of that also. I blew up the boat on saturday night.:frown: Thats always a good time. We also go to Berryessa on Mother's Day. There are pics of that also. That cat boat with the blower and 3 carbs sticking out hauled butt. It was white with red. I camped right where they were launching the boats off the bank in the cove.

Ya no problems. River got pretty high but still had about 4' to rise before we get water. They came up about 2' short of what they projected. Thanks for asking though.
BTW the Galaxie blew up in Oakland. Sounds like broken rings for a burnt piston.
