The hot water line has apparently sprung a leak under the slab in my house....

That's a bad thing, you might try using a stethascope adn checking along the plumbing run. I've seen leaks pinpointed this way before. the fix isn't cheap though.

No one was available at a reasonable time for a reasonable amount...
SO I got in there myself
Fortunately it was under the garage floor and was easily patched...
Only after hours of chipping away foundation concrete...

Slab leaks suck! But now that you put out this fire, it gives you time to find someone to repipe the place. This is just the first of many leaks unless you repipe. :cry:
