You're really making time on that project. I admire your ambition.
It looks terrific, by the way. :)

Looks like there is a little orange peel. (Shows like a bitch on black) It will come out when you sand and buff it but you are creating a lot of work for yourself. Dont be scared to thin it out more. Boat looks sick though. I admire your ambition. Good job.:D

nasty one, a little orange peal but we have to wetsand anyways to level the flames. i will reduce the last 2-3 coats. it smoths out. i also use a slower reducer so it stays wet a little longer and there will be very little if any orange peal to deal with. i will prob still wetsand again before i buff bc it is not a dust free environment. thanks for the input

All paint will have orange peel in the final coat. It can lessened with different techniques but it's always there. That's what sanding and buffing is all about.
You're paint looks great, 502PC.
Jetboat Brian has a palm sander he uses with 2000~4000 paper that looks like it would be great time saver in the sand/buff stage. Maybe we can coax him into logging out of those midget porn sites he hangs out on long enough to tell us about it.

502,
I get tired just looking at all that work. No wonder people charge so much to do paint jobs and gel jobs. For a guy doing it for himself as a hobby it's like a prison sentence. I got out of the gel joint myself recentely, and I don't ever want to go there again.
Looking good.
You Te

All the manufacturers make them. They can be used wet or dry.The big difference in a finishing orbital sander is it has a 3/32" stroke ..If you use a regular D/A it will leave scratches too deep To buff out ...even when using 4000 grit...The one I have is made by Dynabrade...

Does anyone know how I could find out the orbit diameter of this sander?

Also, where do you get your abrasives? My jobber doesn't stock anything like that but I could probably get them to bring some in. 3m stickit pads?
