Was it me or does it seem like (after going to the show) this years flames and tribal flames are going next years pink and teal or checkered flag motifs. I just saw wayyyy too many of them today. They look hella cool, I just wonder if they will be passe in a couple of years.

They'll eventually go the way of checkers. Everything goes in cycles. I think that in a couple of years you'll see the return of simpler patterns, solids, mirrors, and fades. Then those will go away and flames will come back into vogue. What's old is new, again. Just my .02

All a part of "the man's ***boat cycle". They gotta be obsolete sooner or later so you can encourage people to buy new ones that are "ev vogue". It's a C-O-N...spiracy I tell you!!!!

Lets see, checkers, then flames, then tribal flames. What's next? I prefer the timeless designs some choose for their graphics. Classic

I'm thinking that tribals are going to go the way of checkers. Hot rod type flames have been popular for a long time. We probably won't see as many flame jobs but I don't think they'll go completely out of vouge. (I hope).
My .02
By the way... Nice pics

Does anybody remember pinstriping?

Flames of some sort will always be cool. But a lot of the stuff I see coming out now will eventually fade out and find its way back again. How else can you tell how old a boat really is? I myself prefer simple classic designs. I wanted my boat to look in style for as long as possible. Just my $.02:cool:

Hell yeah, pinstripes really provide some visual "pop".
When I repainted my Challenger, I found a guy who still did them by hand. He pinstriped around all of the main colors on the boat, purple, pink and orange.
Amazing skill to do that stuff by hand.

Unfortunately, I do.
Anything that's the "hot" item willk eventually go out of style and will look old prematurely.
Stick to the classics, they always look good.:D

Classic is good. Look at the the Shiada 21' RC at the LABS. That scheme will never go out of style IMHO. I think that flames are a safe bet as well. Tribals? We'll see i guess. just my .02

I like the more classic schemes like the Schiada too. If I ever manage to buy a new boat again, there may be a lot of color on it, but I won't go with trendy graphics or colors again...
Flames look very cool and I like them a lot, but due to the proliferation of them at the show, I'd think long and hard about ordering them. I still kinda like the checkered flags with the checks as fades..., but now they are yesterdays news, soooo 2000ish...
:D

Seems to be a lot of that sentiment round here. But up north there are still people trying to order boats from the Eliminator Dealer with the checkered flag motif...
Depends on where you are, how many others there are with the same shizzle and your own personal taste IMHO. I was really into the offshore racing so I kinda felt that the checkered flag motif was appropriate...even though I didn't race...I was just a wannabe. You see damn few customs up there on the Delta and northern california lakes... more showing up though.

I was gonna bring this up too. It's funny how this "out of date" design still grabbed the attention of most of the attendees.
How bout faded, oxidized, blue and silver metal flake???:D I'm trying to start my own trend here;)
