Hello guys My OMC 120 2.5 chevy went kaput! It is a 1976 model, the engine needs 1000.00 dollars machine shop work. Too much money. What other engine choices do I have. Does anyone have a shortblock or a whole engine that will fit?
Please I need to fix on a budget...

If memory serves me correctly some of the late 70's or early 80's GM front wheel drive cars with the 4 cyl were 2.5's. I think that you could find an old Chevy Citation or one of the other GM FWD in it and convert it to marine or drop in if you felt comfortable.
Just an idea :)

Good idea cuz most of the parts are still good on the engine I have!! Does anyone know what cars and years that the 2.5 4 banger came in??

I'd look at the junkyard too. I think you're right about the 2.5 in the Citation. I also think it was used in early 80s olds and chevy station wagons with front wheel drive like the cutlass cruiser...I owned one of those POSs with a v-6 way back then. But if you got the 4 cyl it had the 2.5 in it.
I also think the Fiero used the same block in the 4 banger edition...
