I have a 21ft Glastron cuddy with a 302ci ford. Engine mod: ported 54cc heads 1.84int. 1.54 exh.C.R 9:1, Ford motor sport rpm intake, 600cfm ebrock carb, stock merc exhaust.The prop is a merc 2 speed 17/19 pitch....how much cam can i run....First choice is a engle cam 512 lift 230 dur@ .050. I'm looking for top speed not to worried bout hole shot....could i run a bigger prop? 19/21 maybe a 23......thank for help.......I know it's not a rocket,but it's payed for Russ........

Russ, dont get too crazy..you still gotta maintain a low idle speed or yer gonna have probs gettin that old 1 drive in an outta gear..anything over 950 in nuetral an problems start....besides, the stock exhaust is gonna crimp yer style on a hot camm anyway.....

ODDD1 is right. The stock Merc. manifold are the bad parts in your boat. Buy better one and you will gain some speed. Don't use a wide cam with stock manifold. Overlap will make the motor swallow water

Thanks for reply......I guess you think my cam is a little on the big side......How big can i go? Max lift and max dur@.050......Exhaust upgrade is coming....just have to locate a good set of manifolds for small block ford......Russ

Drew Marine from Spokane, Wa., is the best guy I know in Ford. He advertises in ***boat.

Well....I got the boat in the water...fine tuned the motor and the old girl cranks out to 5 grand now,and sounds ooo so sweet. Its like a new motor, lot more power then i had. Now i would like to lower my WOT RPM to 4200...Is there a rule of thumb for pitch of prop increase-RPM decrease? Thanks.........Russ...... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
