I want to change my top,no more straps, use poles instead.I got a quote of 900$ to install 4 angled poles(replaces straps),2 cross braces, and 2 short stand off poles for the rear. All mounts thru bolted.Any ideas or suggestions on shops?

I have a friend with that set up and it rattles pretty bad. Might want to do a rigid set up for the rear & straps for front for some tension.
Not sure where to have this done though.

cross bracing? The rattles would make me crazy,do you still have the straps?I dont have any problems with it,I just think one day somethings gotta break, but maybe not,80 hours and nothing yet

Yes, he has cross bracing and all. The steel mounts dont really pull tension to stay away from rattling.
Just stay away from the 90mph passes with the bimini up.

You should never tow the boat on the freeway at 100 with your kids in the boat, are you crazy? You could get a ticket.

Why are you home? Rain?

I agree with Outcole'd. With the rigid bracing at all four corners, there is no way to tension the top. The solid rear, with the front straps is the best way to go, but at speed, it is best to lower the top.

Hey RR, ours is awesome, and no rattles at all. Is this what you're looking for? The price you were quoted is close to what we paid....Our guy is in Rancho Cucamonga if you want the #....

You can see everything fine...the braces are off to the side. Even looking over to side while driving (checking for crossing PWC fools, among other things), they do not get in the way. Let me know if you change your mind about the #...I'll get it for you if you need it. :rollside:

For those that have the bars, how do you tension them? When I put my bimini up, I adjust it so I have to pull down on it to be able to attach the straps. That way, it is tight, and doesn't rattle. Do you have to pull down to attach the bars, and is it hard?

We have to pull down to attach as well. The top is that mesh material that is a 90% shade. It must be cut perfect because it's not floppy at all~it's tight.

We're great, thanks....We almost always have the whole family...the kids love the river as much as we do, and mom and dad are fast becoming river rats, too, LOL...This weekend is a no kid weekend, though, so it'll be a nice break. :boxed: :boxed:

For what it's worth, the guys at Gaines Marine uses ( or did use) someone in town to do all their covers and bimini's (they toss the stock stuff that came on the JC Tritoons). You may try calling them even though they have new owners and carry Playcraft.
All I know is they had our JC Tritoon done (years back) and it was excellent. Even though it only did 50 MPH the side to side hammering/swaying on a pontoon really beats up a bimini. It was all poles with an inverted V pole in the rear. Tight as a drum and really nice quality work. I left it in the up, but folded, position when I towed as well. Cover was top notch too.
You guys still coming our direction? Houses are starting to really slow. New starts down 20% this month
