I think the most difficult road to stay awake on is the 40 for those 100+ miles to Needles. All I can say is thank god for those warning strips on the side:eek!:

Those warning strips (ribs)saved my life once when I was driving up to Chico one night when I lived down in SoCal. Next truck stop I slept for a couple hours.

We saw a Toyota 4 Runner flip on the 40 last year heading out to Laughlin. It was right in front of us and went over about 8 times. Two adults and two kids inside. One adult and one child were airlifted and the other two went by ground. Everybody survived, luckily for them one of my passengers was a trauma nurse and they got the necessary care until help could arrive. I got some pics I'll try to post.

My buddy is the guy in the white shirt helping lift the stretcher.

This is the youngest passenger, about 8, getting ready for his hellicopter ride. He had internal bleeding.

Here is the accident scene. The vehicle was in the #1 lane heading Eastbound and came to rest in the #1 Westbound lane.

The truck.

The driver was changing a CD and got into the dirt on the left side of the roadway, yanked the wheel right, then overcorrected to the left which put the vehicle into a long centrifical skid across both Eastbound lanes. The vehicle then left the roadway into the center median. The right front wheel dug into the dirt and was ripped off the vehicle which then sent it over about 8 times. All passangers were wearing seatbelts. The youngest slid out of his seatbelt and we found him last burried under some of the crap they had in the car. It was like a yard sale out there, you would have thought they were moving there was so much shit in the car and scattered all over the median. The right front passenger, female, had to be 250lbs or more and was tangled in her seatbelt in a standing position with her feet on the driver door and looking out the sunroof. If they had not been wearing seatbelts they easily would have been ejected. Just look at they guy who fell asleep, he really got tossed around.
