I haven't seen it but my wife went to a screening at a local theater Tuesday night. All the churches in the area had all the local theaters booked for it. She said it was truly unbelievable. We will probably both go see it sometime this weekend.

I hope I don't ruin it for anyone but... the Devil did it.

I saw it yesterday..... Not a bad little movie. As for it being a spiritual eye opener, well not so much for me. What I did like about it was the short period of time they showed in the film. It was just about the last 12 hours of Jesus so the drama stayed high for the entire film and never strayed into other sub-stories. Despite the Rev title I'm not the religous type and this movie didn't prove anything new to me, but it did tell the stories of the 4 gosples very well and very clear. The gore and brutality was a bit much, but typical for a Mel Gibson film. Despite your beliefs I'd recommend it just for the power of the story.
Enjoy :D :D

I'll Pass. Watching Jesus get his ass kicked for two and a half hours is not my idea of entertainment. :frown:

I don't beleive the movie was done as entertainment but done as an interpative information film ment to reach reach beleivers and non believers a like.
I saw it last night. I have never been in a movie theatre that was completely silent for the entire film. I have also have never been in a movie theatre that the vast majority of the audience sat through the credits silent. It seemed to be biblically accurate and very well told. As some one who is a beleiver it has really put into focus what happened that day. It is one thing to read the testimony and quite another to visualize it EXACTY as you remenber reading it.
All in all a very good film. I recomend everyone shoud see it. Believers and non beleivers alike. It is an eye opener.

So, Jesus is on the cross and he calls out to Paul "Paul! Come to me!". Paul thinks "My Lord has summoned me! He must have something to tell me! I shall go to him!" and he starts up the hill. He is immediately set upon by Romans, who knock him flat on his ass and drag him back down the hill.
Jesus calls again. "Paul! Paul, come to me!"
Paul starts up the hill again, and the Romans grab him, kick his ass all the way back down the hill and put the boots to him and beat the living shit out of him.
A third time, Jesus cries out "Paul! Paul, my Rock! Come to me, my dear Paul!"
Paul is now totally distraught, and he picks himself up, bolts past all the guards and manages to get to the bottom of the cross. As the soldiers are grabbing him and pummeling him, he calls to Jesus "I am here my Lord! What is it?"
Jesus replies "Paul! I can see your house from here!"
Cheers

Haven't seen it and prolly won't but heard from a real holy roller freind that it wasn't targeted at religious types. Mostly a whole lot of graphic scenes meant to grab attention and dramatize. I like to be entertained when watching TV/Movies so I'll pass:cool:

Oh my, I just got an email from that religious friend, here's an excerpt...
"...nothing more than blood and guts
pornography...a hi-tech "Braveheart" kind of film violence adapted to the story of Jesus. If it weren't for the hype, masterfully used by Gibson,
it would probably have been fortotten after two weeks. Maybe it still will be."

"pornography"....
What film was he watching. He must be to tied up in his religious works to have seen this movie for what it really is.
Not looking for a religious debate however, the movie I saw was scripurally correct. Yes the beatings we brutal...VERY brutal but if you read from scripture Jesus was beaten beyond regognition before his crusafiction. Not physical recognition but beyond recognition of a man. Your friend must have missed that fact.
I guess everyone is entitled to his/her opinion though.
