I just realized I forgot to pay the wifes car tags. She is out driving around right now with expired tags. Anyone know what will happen if she gets pulled over. Ticket I guess.:(

A fix it ticket. It will cost you a $10 court admin fee and proof of correction. If it goes over 6 months expired, the car may be impounded...don't let it get that far. Oh yeah, your wife will be real pissed when she get jacked by the cops...

I heard that the cops arent' bothering with pulling people over on expired tags unless they are really old, since the DMV is so backed up.

The car can only be impounded if its expired for 6 months or over. If the cop checks the sign-off box then it's about a $20.00 admin. fee, ( depending which county you live in ) along with the sign'd off ticket. If he doesn't check the sign-off box then you have to appear with proof of correction. Not a big deal! DMV is the one that hammers you with late fee's.

And please dont take sticker off of another car you own and put it on hers just for the time being and let your wife get jacked for that. I ran into that last week. Husband forgot, didnt want the wifey to get hassled so he took the sticker off of a old car and put it on hers. She had no clue. You go from an infraction to a bookable misdemeanor, though most po po will just cite you out. Unless its been 6 months, take the fix it ticket and pay the $10 fine (OC).

Went down to AAA. Put the sticker on and the reg. in the box. She never knew!:)
