This is an editorial written by an
American citizen, published in a
Tampa newspaper He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!
IMMIGRANTS,
NOT AMERICANS,
MUST ADAPT.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11,
we have experienced a surge
in patriotism by the majority
of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had
barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about
the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there
are a few things that those
who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a
multicultural communit y
has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we
have our own culture, our
own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part
of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women,
on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our schools. If God
offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the world as
your new home, because God is part
of our culture.
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or
you don't like Uncle Sam, then you
should seriously consider a move
to another part of this planet. We
are happy with our culture and have
no desire to change, and we really
don't care how you did things where
you came from. This is
OUR COUNTRY,
our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the
right to express his opinion and we
will allow you every opportunity! to do
so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag,
our pledge, our national motto, or our
way of life, I highly encourage you
take advantage of one other great American freedom,
THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.
It is Time for America to Speak up
If you agree -- pass this along;
if you don't agree -- delete it!
AMEN

Could not have said it better myself. i was at Home Depot today and i noticed that everything that had writing on it also had it in spanish. that really bothers me. pretty soon our street signs are going to be bilingual. as the editorial said, this is America, we speak english. i am not going to go to Japan and demand that they put english on everything just so i don't have learn their language. the Mexicans must think that they can just come up here and claim this land. the sad things is, is the US but more California is laying out the red carpet for them. this just gets me heated.

I agree. It is getting out of hand. Here in PHX this last couple days, they've been marching in protest and just the other day, I saw about 20 hispanics piled in the back of a pickup all hanging out the sides and cops escorting the crowd down Central ave. Come on now. If it was 20 of us in the back of a truck, we would definately be pulled over and handed a citation...WTF

My Grandfather came to the US from Italy in the early 1900s. He taught himself to read, write and speak English. He forbid Italian from being spoken in his home. He was proud to be in America, and even prouder when he obtained his Citizenship. (I have his Citizenship Certificate)
Immigrants built this country. But in the past they did it the right way. The legal way. They worked hard and studied to become citizens. They learned the language, the History and the Culture of this great Nation. They didn't demand hand-outs. On the contrary, they shunned Government Assistance and welfare. If they couldn't afford something, they did without until they could.
The new wave of immigrants come here strictly for the government benefits. They sneak in to have babies in our Hospitals creating "Anchor Babies" who automatically become citizens. And we get to pay the bill. They are then eligible for welfare, food stamps, free medical, and anything else they can leech from the Government. And we get to pay the bill. They demand that we print everything in their native language. On billboards, government forms, street signs and Public Buildings. They demand that their language be used on rides at amusement parks, signs in retail stores, and in the schools. And we get to pay the bill.
Then when the Government attempts to enforce the laws, enacted by the citizens of this country, to secure our borders, and arrest and deport these criminals, they cry "racism" and protest in the streets. And we get to pay for it.
Yes. We live in a free country. We have an inherent right to protest, guaranteed by the First Amendment to the US Constitution. But we have earned that right. Either as a birthright, from the blood sweat and tears of our American forefathers, or from our hard work to become citizens through Naturalization.
Those criminals protesting in our streets, waving the flag of a foreign nation, haven't earned that right. They're no better than the terrorists who want to destroy our way of life. They also want to destroy our way of life, by imposing theirs on us.
I'm glad my Grandfather isn't alive to see this national travesty.
