LMAO
My Ford still drives great. I just now ignore the ABS light and the Check Engine light.......I also ignore how the idle sometimes goes from 800 to 1200 for no reason at stoplights, and the whining noise that sounds like a little foghorn when idling too.
But it doesn't smoke. It doesn't drip and the stock battery lasted 7 years. 135,000 relatively troublefree miles.

The Stats are quite clear, the Ford Super-Duty Brand sells 2 to 1 over Chevy. Or more than all combined!

Not to start crap here  but I have Polk vehicle registration data here at work that shows if you combine GMC and Chevy, they slightly sell more than Ford. :eek!: To clarify, this is total pickup truck sales not Ford Super-Duty vs. Chevy HD which is indeed more.

I like the shit out of my Ford F-350, 7.3 diesel. Was a GM guy for 20 years untill they started to build trucks for the highways instead of for work. Sure the GM are nice riding and all cozy inside, but they fall apart on the backroads in the oil patch in Alberta. They are built for the highways of California. No offence for you guys that drive them. Anywhere you need a strong worktruck, you'll see fords!! In the North (way north), you don't see any GM trucks. If I wanted a truck that rode like a car, I'd buy a car.:D

Well we had our POS 03 Excursion / 6.0 diesel taken back under the lemon law and we now have a 04 Chevy 2500 HD Crew Cab 4x4 Duramax.
I had two 7.3 Fords before the Ex (1999 & 2002) but I like the Chevy better so far. We towed our Cig an hour away from our house a couple weeks ago with the brakes on the trailer not working and it was no problem for the Chevy. We are talking about 12,000 pounds. The Excursion had a hard time stopping it's own weight, let alone with a trailer behind it.
The Chevy is a lot nicer to drive in my opinion as well. Better seats, ammenities (sp) ect...
To each his own, but when salesman starts bashing other brands that is when I walk off the lot. I had a saleman at a GMC dealership telling me how much better they were than the Chevy. When I told him that they were built on the same assembly line he shut up and I walked.
Both Ford and Chevy build a good truck, and I heard the 6.0 is actually working now so that should not be an issue. Hopefully they will put better brakes on the Ex as well. Buy whatever truck makes you happy.
BTW: I think GM stock is a little higher than Ford;)

I can't back up that dealeo, but I do have a very good friend that exports several hundred used trucks a month from western Canada to the auctions in the northwest States. He only deals in very clean, 1-2 year old trucks and he prefers Fords. Says they sell better, which in turn, earns him more money. He won't turn his back on a GM product but the Fords have a bigger market.

I have shopped for, and bought both brands more than a few times and in my experience you can work a cheaper deal on a Ford.
We got a very good deal on our Chevy truck because of a guy that I met worked for GM and I was able to buy the truck as if I was a GM employee. Without that connection the best I could find was 1k over invoice, and that was through a dealerhip where my father knows the owner.
When we ordered our 2000 Suburban the best we could do at the time was $2500 over. We checked with many dealerships througout So.Cal. and there answer was they did not have to deal that much because people are buying them at their asking prices.
The Fords I bought I was able to get between 100-500 over no problem. You walk on the lot and they have 20 super duties to choose from.
The Chevy that we have know we ordered, and it came in before the Ex was gone. The dealership said they could sell it in one day no problem because of the high demand for the Duramax, Crew Cab, 4x4 combo if we decided we did not want it. They offered to order another one to give us more time. we ended up just buying it, but the demand for the GM/Chevy's seem to be higher.

I think if you look at the Market Cap, you will see the two are pretty equal; and maybe Ford with a little better P/E...Stock Price alone is tough to gauge who is the better mouse trap; both companies seem to be pretty viable...

The measure of "SUPER-DUTY" vs "ALL OTHERS OVER 8800 # GVWR" is true that Ford outsells the competition second-to-none. Relating to the price structure of the two, one needs to consider the facts that GM has used a substancial amount of capitol from the pension fund, and certainly their stock will reflect it soon. Not to mention all the cost for sales to drive marketshare. (Rebates, etc.) Ford Is going to offer several new product re-vamps for 2005, in which we all can agree that new goods are what it will take to drive success, both from the showroom standpoint, and the public trading. Ask your investor what he thinks Ford will bring back in terms of investment over the next fiscal year, and you will be impressed!
Thanks for the comments!

I'm glad you brought it up! Intial launch of the 6.0L V8 Powerstroke Diesel was hard for us in the Fleet Business. We saw problems with the Rail-Line Injection and Injector #5 in some vehicles. The engine was the VT365 International platform that had been on the road in the 26,000# GVWR class and up, and was of great success. The problem in short is that the programmer that wrote and engineered the program for the engine to fit in the Lights, died during Ford's Launch. This presented major problems for Ford and our Loyal Diesel customers. The 2004 is problem free so far as this relates to your question(s). In respect to the trans oil leak, the rear main seal was leaking in very few trucks across the country, and once replaced, we have seen no further problems with it. One needs to consider that Ford is pushing 325 hp and 560 Torque, and this level of power in a stock L/D truck is powerful and robust. I believe that when we launch the 2005 Ford Super-Duty, it will sincerely be Shock and Awe!

But when you put down the competition it's a sign of weakness on your part and it hurts Ford Motor Company's reputation and that of your dealership. You're not doing anyone a favor when you put down the competition.
And when you don't show up armed with facts you sound like another double-talking, lying, bullshit-for-brains car salesman.

I agree. A salesman who tries to sell you something by saying the other brand is junk cannot be trusted IMO. And his smokin deal on an F350? That same truck can be had for less than 36K. And before he acts all shocked and disbelieving, I know this as a fact because my Dad was the one who did the deal.

OK Mr fordfleet guy,
quote this:
f-550, 6.0, 6-speed man-trans, 4x4, 17Kgvw rear, XLT, CC-cab-
chassis, (I'll find my own bed for it) (wheel-base same as reg
crew cab+4 in)
white ext, grey int, cloth seats, tow pkg, cheap radio pkg...
--Sherpa
how much is the hold-back and dealer rebate on that truck-?
so I'm looking for my cost, then we'll figure tax/ship/DMV crap.

I ordered the Excursion today, he was true to his word on the deal we talked about without any hasles even though he didnt give me any of the "Dealer Hold Back"
I have to tell ya this was the most pleasent vehicle buying experiance ever and thats why I will recomend Rancho Ford in Temecula.

Congrats on your new purchase. Sounds like you had the same experience I had (good) when I bought my F350.
So, now that the purchase is done, what mods are ya going to do?

First thing is tint and the Edge Juice with attitude, I found the good guy deal at several places for $650. The next thing is 22" rims for a little white boy bling bling. Im having a hard time finding options in this size for a 4x4 3/4 ton because I dont want the low profile tires, im just looking to fill up the wheelwells so if anyone has the hook up for me HOOK UP BRUTHA! Im getting the factory DVD system with a center screen and Roz is going to get me a couple screens for the seats, Im swapping all the stereo equipment thats in our 2000 excursion into the new, a JLw3 center consol sub and alpine F-450 5 channel amp.
The only way I could be happier is if this was actually my daily driver but its not....... Have to make the wife happy;)

You may want to check out the rims by Weld Evo. They have several 22" and 24" wheels with the 8x170 lug pattern. I purchased a set of 17x10 rims and they are worth the money. The chrome plating is guaranteed for 5 years. Now we're talking some serious bling bling!

Keep me posted on the Edge Juice install. After my first oil change, I will be right there with ya...

Look like some nice rims but I am NOT a fan of weld! I had a set on my lifted Expedition back in 97 that seperated after a year and they would not warrenty them.
Wait till your first oil change, eff that install the juice now its under warranty:D Im having PJ at Express pick the truck up at Rancho and install the chip and exhuast before I even take delivery:wink: I not the kind of guy that can wait for things, if its available I need to have it NOW!

Yea, I know. It seems that most of my friends that have the Edge Juice own Chevys. As soon as I get some positive feed back on a 6.0 Power Stroke install, I'm all over it. Will your exhaust upgrade include the catalytic converter?

Rubths

What do you mean Cat converter? My 00 powerstroke doesnt have a cat, are you telling me the 6.0 liter does??? If so It wont be on there for long!
I have not heard any neg about the 6.0 liters on the juice box, have you heard anything I should know about?

I think Ford added the cat in '03. As far as the Juice is concerned, I have heard nothing but positive results so far.

If you are asking of the Chevy / GMC Alison Trans? Yes, as long as you are looking for the 8.1 gas guzzling ***** of a truck. I owned a 2002, and have retired it to our place in Canada. We bought a diesel last year. I will never go back to gas in a truck.

check that. my uncle has a 6 liter with the allison behind it. none of the cookie cutter trucks on the lot had it but he ordered it as an option.
the 6 liter is a gas ***** also just not quite as bad as the 8.1 I would imagine.
