OK, I'm a dumb ass Canadian, but why would something like that be illegal in Texas?

Really? Why are they illegal? The frame doesn't cover the stickers or tags.

Another Dumbass Law they just passed a few months ago... amazing what our elected officials can dream up ain't it:rolleyes:
they will write you a ticket even if it has one of the " Dealers " advertising frames on over the paper plates, depending on how big a prick the cop is...
had a real nice one on my Harley but took it off after a friends wife got a ticket.

The problem is with the frames that cover the word TEXAS on the plate. Also, some people have the clear plastic cover over the plate. It seems that a lot of people run the EZTAG lanes illegally. There is a camera that is supposed to take a picture of your rear license plate so the cops can track you down. If the camera can't see the word TEXAS on the plate or the light reflects off the clear plastic cover they can't track you down. This must have gotten to be a serious problem because very quietly the Texas legislature passed a bill banning any plate frame that covers any lettering on the plate and completly bans the clear plastic type. The fine is $250. There has been a lot of backlash against the strict wording of the law and during the next session of the legislature they are going to tweak it a bit. Once again the few scumbags who break the law make it hard for all of us.

Well then, being the guy I am, "Owning a what you want store"
I can profile the upper part of the frame a little different for you Texan folk.
You won't be able to put any letters on top though.
