dumb, but how the heck do you add an avatar and where do you get them. Second, how do you add a pic for a signature.

It's all in your user cp. Click the box (user cp)
It a long story so just mess around with it.
For your sig You have to use .
put in your pic then.

"edit profile" for signature change.
"edit options" for avatar.
